Overview
The Garmin 010-11598-00 is a vehicle power cable that lets you run and charge a Rino 600 series handheld from a standard cigarette-lighter style power outlet. It is a straightforward way to keep a Rino 610, 650, or 655t powered up without relying only on spare batteries when you are traveling between spots.
When connected, it charges the device’s rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack and can power the unit’s functions except for the radio transmitter. For radio use, keep a charged battery pack installed in the handheld even while it is plugged in.
On a boat, this cable is commonly used at the helm or in the cabin with a 12 V accessory outlet, keeping a handheld ready for navigation, tender runs, or dockside planning while staying topped up.
Key features
- Plugs into a standard cigarette lighter receptacle for easy power from a vehicle or boat accessory outlet.
- Made for Garmin Rino 600 series handhelds, including Rino 610, 650, and 655t.
- Charges the rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack while the handheld is connected.
- Powers the handheld’s functions while connected, with the radio transmitter remaining battery-powered.
- Useful for extended trips where the unit is left on for mapping and navigation without swapping batteries.
Compatibility and fit
This cable is specific to the Rino 600 series charging interface, so it is not a universal USB lead. Match your handheld model (Rino 610, 650, or 655t) before ordering, especially if you have multiple Garmin devices on board.
Installation and setup
Plug the adapter into the power outlet, then connect the device-side plug to the Rino. For clean installs on a boat, route the cable so it cannot snag on the wheel, throttle, or seat slides, and leave enough slack at the handheld for normal handling without pulling on the connector.
Use notes on board
For best day-to-day use, treat the connection like any cabin accessory and keep it out of direct spray. If you regularly transmit on the Rino’s radio, plan around the battery requirement for transmitting by starting with a charged pack and leaving it installed during use.
