Overview
The Garmin 010-11733-00 is a quick release lanyard that keeps a compatible handheld GPS close to you when you are moving around the boat. It hangs around your neck and uses a quick-disconnect section so you can separate the handheld from the strap without taking the lanyard off, which is handy when you need to hand the unit to a crewmate or pop it off to stow it. Shipping package weight is listed at about 1.4 oz.
On board, this is most useful for keeping a handheld within reach in the cockpit, on the foredeck, or in the dinghy where drops happen fast. It helps reduce the chances of setting your GPS down on a wet surface or watching it slide out of a pocket when the boat rocks.
Key features
- Quick-release disconnect so the handheld can be detached from the neck lanyard quickly.
- Compatible with Garmin Rino 610, Rino 650, Rino 655t, and GPSMAP 64 series handhelds.
- Also listed as compatible with the Astro 320.
- Neck-worn carry keeps the GPS accessible when you are steering, handling lines, or climbing in and out of a tender.
- Black/grey colorway.
Compatibility and fit
This lanyard is meant for specific Garmin handheld models, so confirm your device family before ordering. Your handheld must have a lanyard attachment point, and if you use a protective case or cover, it needs to leave that attachment point accessible so the tether can seat properly.
Installation and use on board
Attach the tether to the handheld’s lanyard point, then wear the strap around your neck and keep the unit tucked where it will not swing into the helm, hardware, or companionway steps. Use the quick release when you want to remove the handheld for close-up viewing, to operate it from a stable seated position, or to pass it to someone else without pulling the strap over your head.
As with any neck lanyard on a boat, keep it clear of moving gear and avoid wearing it where it could snag around winches, cleats, or engine controls.
Maintenance and care
After salt spray or a wet day, rinse the lanyard with fresh water and let it dry fully before stowing. Check the strap and connector for wear over time, especially if the handheld is used often on deck or around grit and sand in a dinghy.
