Overview
The Garmin NSEU012R is an electronic chart for the Mediterranean Sea, Central & West coverage area, spanning the coast from L'Estartit, Spain to Crotone, Italy, including Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, and Malta, plus key northern Italy lakes such as Lac de Geneve, Lago Maggiore, Lago di Lugano, Lago d'Iseo, Lago di Como, and Lago di Garda.
It's intended for compatible Garmin chartplotters and comes in two chart levels (Garmin Navionics+ and Garmin Navionics Vision+) and two delivery formats (microSD/SD card or download). Both formats include a one-year subscription that unlocks daily updates and additional chart features through the ActiveCaptain app once the chart is activated.
On the water, this coverage is useful for coastal cruising and island runs, and it also supports detailed depth and route-planning tools on compatible units, including up to 1' contours in supported areas, shallow-water shading, and depth range shading with up to 10 selectable ranges.
Key features
- Coverage includes the Central & West Mediterranean from L'Estartit (Spain) to Crotone (Italy), plus Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, and Malta, and major northern Italy lakes.
- Up to 1' contour detail in supported areas for reading bottom shape when approaching structure, channels, and harbor entrances.
- Depth range shading with up to 10 ranges and shallow-water shading to make critical depths stand out on the chart.
- Auto Guidance+ route suggestions on compatible plotters using your entered depth and overhead clearance settings; intended for planning and still requires an on-screen review underway.
- One-year subscription included for daily chart updates through ActiveCaptain after activation.
- Garmin Navionics Vision+ versions add extra visual layers such as relief shading, satellite imagery, aerial photos, and 3D views on compatible chartplotters.
Variants
This coverage is offered in multiple configurations so you can match the chart level and delivery method to your setup.
The options vary by chart level (Garmin Navionics+ versus Garmin Navionics Vision+) and by format (a physical microSD/SD card versus a download that you load onto your own card). The mapped region remains the Mediterranean Sea, Central & West coverage area.
- 010-C1238-20: Garmin Navionics+ on microSD/SD. This is the physical card option for chartplotters with a compatible card slot.
- 010-D1840-20: Garmin Navionics+ as a download. This option loads mapping onto your own microSD/SD card using Garmin Express before you insert it into the chartplotter.
- 010-C1238-00: Garmin Navionics Vision+ on microSD/SD. This adds premium visual layers on compatible displays while keeping the same regional coverage.
- 010-D1840-00: Garmin Navionics Vision+ as a download. This is the premium chart level delivered as a download to your own microSD/SD card using Garmin Express.
Compatibility and fit
Confirm your chartplotter supports Garmin Navionics+ and Garmin Navionics Vision+ before ordering, since chart compatibility varies by model and software generation. If you are choosing the microSD/SD format, your display must have an available card slot. If you are choosing the download format, plan on providing your own microSD/SD card and a way to load the chart data from a computer.
Installation and setup
For card versions, insert the microSD/SD into the chartplotter and allow time for the unit to read the card and draw the chart layers. The subscription features and daily updates are available after the chart is activated through ActiveCaptain or Garmin Express.
For download versions, load the chart data onto your own microSD/SD card with Garmin Express, then insert that card into the chartplotter. Keeping your chartplotter software current helps with chart drawing, layers, and update workflows.
Use cases on board
This coverage makes sense for skippers running coastal passages along Spain, France, and Italy, hopping between Corsica, Sardinia, Sicily, and Malta, or planning marina approaches where depth awareness matters. It also suits anglers and cruisers who want contour detail and depth shading tools to stay oriented when working near structure or following familiar routes through narrow entrances.
