The Raymarine A80802 is a 1 kW medium-wide CHIRP tilted-element thru-hull transducer for fishfinding systems that need broad sonar coverage below the boat without using an external fairing block. The 20 degree tilted ceramic element helps compensate for hull deadrise so the beam is aimed more vertically after installation. Installation and fit
This is a tilted-element thru-hull transducer, so placement and hull angle matter. The 20 degree version is intended for hull sections with 16 to 24 degrees of deadrise, allowing the internal element to point closer to vertical once the housing is mounted through the hull.
The housing mounts almost flush to the hull and uses a 95 mm opening. It should be placed where it will stay in clean, non-aerated water while running, away from strakes, through-hulls, steps, and turbulence sources that can interrupt sonar returns at speed.
Sonar performance
The 60 to 100 kHz CHIRP range gives this transducer 40 kHz of usable bandwidth in a single band. The medium-wide beam is well suited to fishing where broader coverage matters more than a narrow search cone, especially when looking for bait, pelagic fish, or targets spread across the water column.
