Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 8120 is a traditional metal DC breaker panel for 12V systems with five branch circuit positions, a maximum panel amperage of 50A, a built-in 12V dash socket, and a dual USB charger rated at 4.8A. It gives you one compact panel for splitting power from a higher-amperage feed into smaller onboard circuits while keeping charging access at the helm or inside the cabin.
All positive, negative, and grounding buses are already installed and the panel comes pre-wired, which helps when replacing an older panel or adding a second distribution point in a small electrical layout. ON-indicating LEDs at each circuit and backlit labels make it easier to see what is live when you are troubleshooting after dark or checking loads in low cabin light.
This panel can be used as an extension to an existing panel or as a compact replacement where space is limited. Its 7.5 x 5.25 x 2.5 in footprint works well in helm consoles, nav stations, and other protected mounting areas where a full-size panel would be harder to fit.
Key features
- Five breaker-protected branch circuit positions on a 12V DC panel with 50A maximum panel amperage
- Integrated dual USB charger rated at 4.8A plus a 12V dash socket for phones, tablets, handheld electronics, and other 12V accessories
- Magnetic-hydraulic trip-free breaker protection with an ON-indicating LED at every circuit position
- Positive, negative, and grounding buses are installed and pre-wired, so the panel is quicker to wire into a refit or new branch circuit layout
- Backlit circuit labels help identify switched loads in low light at the helm or below deck
- Compact 7.5 x 5.25 x 2.5 in panel size for boats where panel space is tight
Installation and setup
Because the buses, breakers, charge points, and circuit indication hardware are already integrated, there is less loose hardware to source before installation starts. That can simplify a clean panel upgrade on a 12V boat where you want organized branch protection and charging access in the same spot.
This is a strong fit for owners rigging a small to mid-size boat with a handful of switched DC circuits and a regular need to charge personal electronics underway. It also makes sense where a second panel is useful near the helm instead of routing every accessory back to a larger main distribution panel.
