Overview
The Raymarine E55060 is a SeaTalk HS crossover coupler for making a direct 1-to-1 network connection between two compatible Raymarine SeaTalk HS devices without adding a network switch.
This coupler is used to link RJ45 SeaTalk HS Ethernet cables and is a practical fit for smaller Raymarine networks, especially legacy E-Classic Series installations. Common layouts include a single E-Series display connected to a DSM300 sonar module, or two E-Series displays connected together when no DSM300 is installed.
For boats with only two SeaTalk HS devices to connect, it keeps the network path simple and avoids unnecessary hardware. When the installation grows beyond a two-device link, a SeaTalk HS network switch is the better match for the system layout.
Key features
- Creates a direct crossover connection between two SeaTalk HS devices without using a network switch.
- Works with RJ45 SeaTalk HS Ethernet cable connections used in Raymarine marine electronics networks.
- Suited to simple E-Classic Series network layouts with two connected devices.
- Useful for connecting an E-Series display to a DSM300 sonar module in a small onboard network.
- Also supports two-display E-Series setups where a DSM300 module is not part of the network.
- Helps keep compact helm or electronics-cabinet installations easier to route and service.
Compatibility and fit
This coupler belongs in Raymarine SeaTalk HS networking, not in NMEA 2000, SeaTalkng, or general DC power wiring. It should be matched with compatible SeaTalk HS devices and RJ45-style SeaTalk HS Ethernet cable ends.
It is most appropriate when the system has a simple point-to-point network requirement. For installations with radar, sonar modules, multiple displays, cameras, or other Ethernet network devices all sharing data, plan the network around a SeaTalk HS or RayNet switching layout instead of a single crossover coupler.
Installation and setup
Mount or secure the coupler where the cable connection will not be strained by helm movement, vibration, or service access. Leave enough slack for future maintenance, and avoid placing the connection where it can sit in bilge water or be pulled tight behind the dash.
Before closing panels, confirm that both connected devices recognize each other on the SeaTalk HS network. This is especially useful after retrofitting legacy Raymarine displays or replacing older cable runs during an electronics refresh.
Use cases on board
This part is a good match for owners maintaining or repairing a small Raymarine E-Series network on a cruising boat, fishing boat, or workboat with a straightforward electronics layout. It is also useful when simplifying a helm installation where only two SeaTalk HS devices need to exchange data.
