Overview

The TACO Marine F16-0861POL-1 is a stainless steel multi-purpose 15 degree portable cleat that fits into a standard rod holder and gives the boat an extra tie-off point where a fixed deck cleat is not available. It combines a cleat and fender-hanging point in one removable fitting, which is useful around docks, fuel stops, raft-ups, and washdowns.

The cleat is made from Type-304 stainless steel with a polished finish and uses a large 9 in. S-shape cleat design. Its 1.25 in. tube outside diameter fits standard 1-5/8 in. diameter rod holders, and the cleat accommodates dock line up to 3/4 in. for larger boat applications.

Installation and fit

This cleat drops into a compatible rod holder, so it can be moved from one location to another without drilling new holes or adding permanent hardware. The 15 degree configuration suits angled rod-holder installations commonly found along gunwales, cockpits, and transoms.

Before ordering, confirm that the rod holder location has the correct 1-5/8 in. inside diameter opening and enough clearance around the cleat for the line lead. The rod holder and surrounding structure should be suitable for the load being applied, since the cleat depends on that existing mounting point.

Use on board

This is a practical fit for center consoles, fishing boats, cruisers, and other vessels that already have rod holders but need more flexibility when setting fenders or managing dock lines. It is especially helpful when tying up against a floating dock, protecting the hull during short stops, or keeping a washdown hose off the deck edge.

Because it is removable, it can be stowed when not in use and brought out only when the docking setup calls for another cleat or fender position.

Maintenance and care

Rinse the cleat with fresh water after saltwater use, especially around the tube and loop areas where salt can sit after washdowns or docking. Dry it before long-term storage when possible, and check the rod holder area regularly so grit does not scratch the polished finish or the deck surface around the installation point.
