Overview
The TACO Marine F30-0861BSA-1 is a multi-purpose 15° portable cleat made for boats that need a temporary tie-off point without adding fixed hardware to the deck. It drops into a standard rod holder, giving you a movable cleat for dock lines, fenders, and washdown tasks when the existing cleats are not in the right place.
The cleat has a large S-shape form with a 9-inch cleat surface and accepts dock lines up to 3/4 inch. Its 1-1/2-inch diameter tube fits standard 1-5/8-inch rod holders, so it can be moved from station to station and stowed when not in use.
This is a practical accessory for center consoles, fishing boats, cruisers, and other vessels with rod holders near the cockpit or gunwale. It helps keep dock lines and fenders together at one working point, which is useful during short stops, fueling, raft-ups, and docking in changing conditions.
Key features
- Portable cleat and fender holder in one piece for temporary line handling at a rod holder location.
- Large S-shape 9-inch cleat surface for secure wraps with dock lines up to 3/4 inch.
- 1-1/2-inch tube fits standard 1-5/8-inch rod holders for quick placement and removal.
- 15° portable cleat layout works well where a rod holder angle helps position the cleat for dockside use.
- Loop hole allows fenders to hang over the side from the same accessory used for a dock line.
- Can also hold a hose while washing the boat, keeping it off the deck and easier to manage.
- Two-piece design helps with storage when the cleat is not being used.
- Adjustable height ring helps set the working height for different dock or tide conditions.
- Brushed aluminum finish matches many deck and cockpit hardware layouts.
- Mesh bag helps the cleat dry after use and reduces scratching on deck or storage surfaces.
Installation and setup
No drilling or permanent deck work is needed when the boat already has a compatible rod holder. Insert the tube into a 1-5/8-inch rod holder, set the height ring as needed, and use the 9-inch cleat surface for the dock line. The cleat should be positioned so the line leads cleanly and does not chafe against the gunwale, rod holder rim, or nearby hardware.
As with any portable tie-off point, the rod holder and surrounding mounting structure need to be suitable for the load being applied. This accessory is best used for docking, fender placement, temporary line control, and similar day-to-day tasks rather than as a substitute for a permanently installed mooring cleat.
Use cases on board
This cleat is useful when the boat’s fixed cleats are too far forward, too far aft, or already occupied. It gives anglers and cruisers a fast way to place a fender beside the hull while also controlling a dock line from the cockpit or gunwale area.
It also works well during washdowns, since the loop can hold a hose over the side instead of letting it drag across the deck. After use, the cleat can be removed, rinsed, dried, and stored in its mesh bag.
