Overview
The Blue Sea Systems Contura Switch Mounting Panel is a modular mounting system for fitting Blue Sea Systems Contura switches into a helm, dash, cockpit, cabin, or equipment panel. The brackets are made to build clean switch banks in different sizes, with center and end pieces for grouped installations, a single-position option for one switch, and a plug for closing an unused switch opening.
The center, end, and single mounting brackets fit six panel thicknesses: 0.06" (1.57mm), 0.09" (2.36mm), 0.13" (3.17mm), 0.19" (4.75mm), 0.25" (6.35mm), and 0.38" (9.52mm). That range covers many common fiberglass, aluminum, and fabricated dash panels found on recreational and work boats.
This series is useful when a boat owner, installer, or electronics technician wants a Contura switch layout that looks organized and can be expanded without replacing the entire panel face. It is a hardware mounting product, so switch electrical ratings, circuit protection, and wiring details should be matched to the specific Contura switch and circuit being installed.
Key features
- Modular bracket format supports switch groups in different sizes, with center and end pieces used to build multi-switch layouts.
- Mounting bracket options are available for single-position layouts and grouped Contura switch banks.
- Center, end, and single brackets fit six panel thicknesses from 0.06" (1.57mm) through 0.38" (9.52mm).
- Works with Blue Sea Systems Contura switch families, including common SPST, SPDT, DPST, and DPDT Contura configurations.
- Panel plug option fills an unused Contura switch mounting panel opening for a cleaner dash or switch bank.
- Compact bracket format helps keep switch additions tidy on helm panels, cabin control panels, and accessory switch locations.
Variants
This product is offered in four configurations for building or finishing a Contura switch mounting layout.
The mounting role changes by variant. The center and end brackets are used together for grouped switch banks, the single bracket is used for one switch position, and the plug fills an unused opening in a Contura switch mounting panel.
- 8266, Type Center. This center bracket is used within a multi-switch assembly, between end brackets, when adding switch positions to a grouped Contura layout.
- 8267, Type End. This end bracket finishes the outside edge of a grouped switch bank and helps define the left or right side of the assembled panel opening.
- 8278, Type Plug. This plug is used with a Contura switch mounting panel when a switch opening needs to be closed rather than populated with a switch.
- 8268, Type Single. This single-position bracket is used when the panel only needs one Contura switch or control in that location.
Installation and fit
Before cutting or modifying a panel, confirm the selected bracket type, the number of switch positions, and the panel thickness at the mounting location. The supported thickness range is especially helpful on boats where the dash or console may include fiberglass laminate, overlay panels, or custom electrical panel faces.
For grouped layouts, the center and end pieces should be planned as a set so the finished switch bank has the correct number of positions and a clean edge on both sides. For a single accessory switch, such as a light, pump, horn, or electronics power control, the single-position bracket keeps the installation compact.
Use cases on board
These mounting panels suit refits, helm upgrades, and accessory additions where Contura rocker switches are already being used or are being added for a new circuit. They are a practical match for small control clusters at the helm, cockpit, cabin entry, flybridge, or equipment panel where a neat switch opening matters as much as the circuit layout.
The plug option is useful during staged upgrades. An installer can leave space for a future circuit and close the unused opening until the next switch is added.
