Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 1148 is a remote control panel with three 2145 Remote Control Contura switches for ML-Series switching circuits. It is built for 12V DC and 24V DC systems and gives you three control positions in a compact 4.75 x 4.88 x 2.00 inch panel footprint.
This panel fits boats that keep the main ML-Series switching hardware closer to the battery bank or electrical compartment, but want day-to-day control at the helm, cabin entry, or another easy-to-reach location. The lockout slides are useful on boats that see vibration and frequent crew movement, where an accidental switch press can create confusion or shut down a circuit at the wrong time.
It is a good match for installations where you want a clean, centralized control point for remote battery switching without moving high-current cabling to the dash. The included illustrated labels also make it easier to identify each function once the system is wired and commissioned.
Key features
- Three-position remote control panel for Blue Sea ML-Series switch installations
- Includes three 2145 SPDT momentary Contura switches with (ON)-OFF-(ON) action
- Supports 12V DC and 24V DC systems when paired with the matching ML-Series equipment
- Lockout slides help prevent accidental switching during normal movement on board
- Compact 4.75 x 4.88 x 2.00 inch size works well where panel space is limited
- Includes illustrated labels, with access to a large range of additional panel labels for system naming
- The included 2145 switches are built for marine panel use and are resistant to vibration, shock, moisture, and salt spray
Compatibility and fit
This panel is for use with Blue Sea ML-Series switches and related remote switching components. It is the control interface, not the high-amperage switching device itself, so it belongs in the user area of the boat while the ML-Series hardware stays closer to the battery cables and load wiring.
Before ordering, confirm that your system uses compatible ML-Series switching hardware and that the voltage of the controlled device matches your boat's 12V DC or 24V DC system. Also check the panel space and behind-panel clearance, especially in tight helm pods, electrical lockers, and cabin bulkheads where the 2.00 inch depth and wiring bend radius matter.
Installation and setup
For the cleanest result, mount the panel where the switches can be reached easily and the labels can be read at a glance. Common locations include the helm, nav station, cabin entry panel, or a dedicated DC control area. Keeping the panel near other daily-use electrical controls makes the system easier to understand for anyone operating the boat.
During setup, label each switch by function so the panel matches the actual battery or load arrangement on board. That matters even more on boats with separate engine, house, thruster, or auxiliary circuits, where a remote switching panel is there to simplify control rather than add another layer of guesswork.
