Overview
The Blue Sea Systems A-Series Restricted Off Flat Rocker Circuit Breaker is a single-pole AC/DC magnetic hydraulic breaker for Blue Sea Systems electrical panels, combining overcurrent protection and manual switching in one panel-mounted device. This range covers 5A through 50A circuit ratings, with maximum voltage ratings of 240V AC and 32V DC.
The restricted-off flat rocker is useful on circuits that should not be shut down by accident, such as selected always-on or hard-to-monitor boat loads. The rocker sits flush in the ON position, and the colored actuator shows the OFF position, making the breaker easy to read without leaving a raised switch exposed on the panel face.
Key features
- Single-pole A-Series breaker for AC or DC branch circuit protection in compatible marine electrical panels.
- Magnetic hydraulic trip-free design, so the breaker cannot be held ON during a fault current condition.
- Restricted-off flat rocker helps prevent accidental shutdown of 24-hour circuits and other loads that should stay powered.
- International ON/OFF symbols support vertical or horizontal panel mounting.
- Interrupt capacity is rated at 3000A at 125V AC, 1500A at 240V AC, and 5000A at 32V DC.
- Operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C for use in demanding marine electrical spaces.
- #10-32 stainless steel terminal screws and #6-32 stainless steel mounting screws support secure panel installation.
- Rated for 10000 switching cycles, giving the breaker practical service life as both a switch and circuit protector.
Variants
This product range varies by amperage rating, with available configurations for 5A, 8A, 10A, 15A, 20A, 25A, 40A, and 50A circuits. The amperage selection should match the protected conductor size and the load requirements of the circuit being protected.
Across the range, the confirmed shared configuration is single pole operation, restricted-off flat rocker actuation, AC/DC use, magnetic hydraulic trip-free protection, and the same maximum voltage ratings of 240V AC and 32V DC.
Installation and setup
This breaker is intended for panel mounting in a compatible A-Series opening. The terminal screw torque is 14 in-lb, and the mounting screw torque is 6 in-lb, which matters when installing in a panel exposed to vibration from engines, pumps, and hull movement.
Use the amperage rating as part of a complete circuit protection decision, not as a direct match to the appliance label alone. On a boat, breaker sizing should account for conductor ampacity, load type, expected inrush, voltage, and the location of the protection in the circuit.
Use cases on board
This restricted-off style is a strong match for circuits where accidental shutdown would be inconvenient or unsafe, while still keeping resettable circuit protection accessible at the panel. It fits well in marine AC or DC distribution layouts where a clean rocker panel face and clear ON/OFF status are important.
