Overview
The Simrad XSONIC Airmar SS75M is a through-hull CHIRP depth and temperature transducer offered with either a 0° or 12° tilted element to match different hull deadrise angles.
It runs in the Medium CHIRP band (80 to 130 kHz) with a 600 W rating, which is a practical range for everyday bottom tracking and target detail when cruising or fishing. The low-profile housing keeps drag down, with about 5 mm extending outside the hull.
Physical size is 94 mm diameter by 134 mm, and listed weight is 1.4 kg. Beamwidth varies by frequency from 24° to 16°.
Key features
- Medium CHIRP operation: 80 to 130 kHz, 600 W
- Reads depth and water temperature (no speed sensor)
- Through-hull mounting with a low-profile exterior (about 5 mm proud of the hull)
- Beamwidth from 24° to 16° across the band
- 9-pin xSonic connection with a 10 m cable
- Two tilt choices to help keep the acoustic element pointing down on different hull deadrise angles
- Listed dimensions: 94 mm diameter by 134 mm; listed weight: 1.4 kg
Variants
This transducer is offered in multiple configurations based on the element tilt angle.
The main difference between variants is the built-in tilt (0° or 12°), which is used to compensate for hull deadrise so the transducer can transmit and receive closer to straight down.
- 000-13908-001: Tilt 0°. Suits hulls with 0° to 14° deadrise where a non-tilted element aligns well with the waterline.
- 000-13909-001: Tilt 12°. Suits hulls with 8° to 15° deadrise where the built-in tilt helps keep the beam oriented downward.
Compatibility and fit
This is a 9-pin xSonic transducer, so it mates with compatible Simrad sonar displays and modules that accept an xSonic 9-pin transducer input. If your system uses a different connector style, plan on the correct adapter before installation.
Because it is a through-hull install, confirm you have clear access on the inside of the hull for the 134 mm body and for routing the cable without tight bends.
Installation and setup
Transducer performance depends heavily on placement. A clean-water location is typically away from strakes, steps, intakes, and anything that aerates the flow, and on a solid section of hull that stays in the water at speed.
Follow standard through-hull practices for your hull type, including sealing any exposed core and bedding the fitting with a marine sealant that matches your hull material and the transducer housing.
Use on board
This setup is a good match for boats that want a fixed, low-drag through-hull sensor for consistent depth tracking underway, along with a built-in temperature readout for fishing and general situational awareness.
