Overview

The Garmin 010-02164-00 is a GC 200 marine IP camera that brings a live HD video feed to compatible Garmin chartplotters over a Garmin marine network connection. It runs on 9 to 18 Vdc for direct power installs, carries an IEC 60529 IPX7 water rating, and uses built-in infrared illumination for low-light viewing with an infrared range up to 30 m.

It can be mounted upright, sideways, or upside down, with image rotation (90, 180, or 270 degrees) and a reverse-image option for rear-view applications. The wide field of view (99.2 degrees horizontal, 74 degrees vertical) makes it practical for dockside maneuvering, cockpit blind spots, or keeping an eye on spaces like the engine room while underway.

Compatibility and network fit

This camera connects into Garmin BlueNet networking and is also compatible with Garmin Marine Network devices, which matters on mixed networks or when you are tying into legacy Garmin Marine Network ports. Plan on installing it where you can route the network cable cleanly back to your chartplotter or network switch, and keep chartplotter software current so the camera feed and settings show up properly.

Installation and setup

The base footprint is 87 x 79 mm and the camera weighs 520 g, so it fits cleanly on hardtops, arches, transoms, bulkheads, and pilothouse overhangs without needing a large mounting pad. Mount it where it will not be submerged and where docks, pilings, or gear cannot strike it. Keep it at least 10 cm away from a magnetic compass to avoid interference.

If you are wiring for direct power on a 12 V system, run the supply through a 1 A fast-acting fuse and use a proper marine switch or breaker upstream as part of your standard helm or electronics wiring practice. For 24 V systems, plan on adding the Garmin Power Module so the camera is not connected directly to 24 Vdc.

Use cases on board

This camera is a good match when you already run a Garmin networked helm and want a fixed, always-available view for backing into slips, watching a swim platform while underway, or checking machinery spaces without opening hatches in rough conditions. It is also useful on larger boats where a bow, stern, or cockpit view helps communicate during docking and line handling.
