Overview
The Vimar Idea 16080 is a flush-mount, single-pole normally open (NO) push button rated 10 A at 250 V AC for panel switching where a momentary contact is needed.
It is an IP40 device with a thermoplastic body and a matte front. Size is 24.8 mm wide, 50.1 mm high, and 36.1 mm deep, which helps when you are fitting it into a tight switch panel and still need room behind for wiring.
On boats, this style of push button is often used on interior switchboards and cabin panels for control circuits such as a call bell, a ventilation trigger, or a relay input, where the contact closes when the button is pressed.
Key features
- 10 A, 250 V AC rating with a single-pole NO contact
- Flush-mounted modular device with engage (snap) fastening
- IP40 protection for indoor, dry mounting locations
- Thermoplastic construction with halogen-free material quality
- Matte surface finish and label space for clear identification on a panel
- Device dimensions: 24.8 mm (W) x 50.1 mm (H) x 36.1 mm (D)
Variants
This push button is offered in multiple configurations to match the look and labeling of an existing IDEA panel. The range varies by color (Gray or Ivory), the front symbol (Standard, Bell, Fan, or Key), and whether the front has an indicator.
Versions marked with an indicator use a luminescent locator to help you find the button in low light. Versions without an indicator have no lighting.
Compatibility and fit
This is a 1-module IDEA device meant to be installed as part of the Vimar IDEA modular system. For a clean fit, match it to the correct IDEA mounting support and cover plate already used on your boat, and confirm the cutout and rear clearance suit the 36.1 mm device depth.
If you are replacing an existing button, double-check the color and symbol so the finished panel stays consistent and is easy for crew and guests to understand.
Installation and setup
Plan the mounting location as a dry, protected interior area such as a cabin bulkhead panel, nav station switchboard, or a protected electrical cabinet door. IP40 is not intended for exposed cockpits, washdowns, or areas that see direct spray.
Allow enough space behind the panel for wiring bends and strain relief so vibration does not work the conductors loose over time. As with any 250 V AC circuit on board, isolate power before work and use installation practices that fit the standards and regulations for your vessel.
Use on board
The symbol options help keep a panel readable at a glance. The Bell symbol is commonly used for call or alert functions, the Fan symbol for ventilation controls, and the Key symbol for access or service functions where you want a clear visual cue.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the front with a soft cloth. Avoid aggressive solvents that can haze or soften thermoplastics, and keep the device out of direct spray and standing moisture to maintain reliable operation.
