Overview
The Attwood Marine 278 ProGlide Slider is a boat seat mount with an integrated slide, built for helm and cockpit seating that needs fore and aft adjustment on a 2-7/8 in pedestal post.
This 278 ProGlide setup gives the seat a wider support interface and a smoother adjustment path, which matters when the seat is used at the helm, on a fishing deck, or in a pontoon seating position where the operator may need to move closer to the wheel, controls, or console. The long handle folds out of the way when it is not being used, helping keep the seating area clear.
The range includes 0 degree and 3 degree mount angle versions, so the mount can be matched to the seating position and the way the seat needs to sit on the pedestal. Before installation, confirm the existing post diameter, seat mounting pattern, and under-seat clearance on the boat.
Key features
- Integrated seat mount and slider for fore and aft seat adjustment at the helm, cockpit, or fishing station.
- Fits 2-7/8 in diameter pedestal posts used in compatible Attwood Swivl-Eze 278 seating systems.
- Available in 0 degree and 3 degree mount angle versions to match the seating layout.
- Wider seat interface helps support larger helm seats and keeps the seat connection stable during normal boat motion.
- Long release handle folds away when not in use, reducing interference under the seat.
- Useful for replacing an existing 278 ProGlide slider or setting up a new marine seat installation where slide adjustment is required.
Variants
This product is offered in two configurations that share the same 278 ProGlide slider purpose but differ by mount angle.
The key difference is the seat mount angle. Both variants are intended for 2-7/8 in pedestal post applications, but the selected angle should match the existing seating geometry and the way the seat is meant to sit on the boat.
- 278AOZPGL-1, Mount angle 0 degree. This version keeps the seat mount level, making it a straightforward match for installations where the current seat position does not require tilt correction.
- 278AO3PGL-1, Mount angle 3 degree. This version adds a 3 degree mount angle, which can help match seating setups where the seat base needs a slight tilt relative to the pedestal.
Installation and fit
Check that the boat uses a compatible 2-7/8 in pedestal post before ordering. The slider sits between the seat and pedestal system, so it is also important to confirm the bolt pattern on the seat bottom and the available space under the cushion for the slide mechanism and handle movement.
For replacement work, compare the mount angle on the existing part before changing configurations. A 0 degree mount and a 3 degree mount can change the way the seat feels at the helm, especially on consoles where sightline, throttle reach, and steering position are already set.
Use on board
This slider is a good match for boats where the helm or cockpit seat needs practical adjustment rather than fixed positioning. It suits operators who move between seated driving, standing at the console, docking, and fishing tasks where seat position changes through the day.
After installation, periodically check the mounting hardware and slide action as part of normal seat maintenance, especially on boats exposed to vibration, washdowns, and saltwater air.
