Overview

The JL Audio VeX Enclosed Speaker System is a pair of 6.5-inch enclosed coaxial speaker pods for open-air audio on boats and powersports rigs where a traditional cut-in speaker does not make sense. Each pod is a 4 O system rated at 75 W RMS with a 100 Hz-25 kHz frequency response, and the enclosure footprint is 7.03 in (179 mm) in diameter by 6.16 in (156 mm) deep.

Each enclosure uses a rotating clamp receiver that works with tubular or surface-mount fixtures (sold separately), which is handy for placing speakers on a wake tower, T-top, hardtop, cockpit rail, or other structure and aiming them toward the seating area. The system is built to handle salt fog and UV exposure, which matters when it lives outside.

Some configurations add Transflective RGB LED accent lighting. The LED circuit runs on 10-14.4 VDC, so plan a separate lighting feed if you want the grilles to light up at night.

• 010-03260-00: LED Lighting None; Grille Color/Style White Sport. A straightforward setup when you want the White Sport look without running a separate lighting circuit.
• 010-03263-00: LED Lighting None; Grille Color/Style Titanium Sport. Keeps wiring simple while giving you the Titanium Sport grille finish.
• 010-03262-00: LED Lighting Transflective RGB LED; Grille Color/Style White Sport. Adds a lighted accent ring and needs a 10-14.4 VDC supply for the LED circuit in addition to the speaker wiring.
• 010-03261-00: LED Lighting Transflective RGB LED; Grille Color/Style Titanium Sport. Combines the Titanium Sport grille finish with Transflective RGB LED accent lighting for nighttime visibility and ambience.

Installation and setup

Because the speaker is already housed in an enclosure, installation comes down to mounting and clean wiring runs. Use a compatible VeX mounting fixture for your surface or pipe diameter, tighten the clamp receiver, then set the aim before final torque so the pods point where they are most useful.

Allow room for the 7.03 in diameter body and 6.16 in depth, plus space for cable routing. On exposed mounts, a drip loop and sealed connections help keep water from tracking into the wiring.

Electrical and system integration

On the audio side, each pod presents a 4 O load and is rated for 75 W RMS continuous power. The recommended amplifier range is 25-150 W per channel, which fits most marine multi-channel amps when you want enough headroom without pushing the speakers beyond their rating.

For variants with Transflective RGB LED lighting, power the LEDs from 10-14.4 VDC and account for up to 324 mA at 14.4 VDC. Treat the lighting feed like any exterior accessory circuit with appropriate fuse protection, a switch or controller, and marine-grade terminations.

Use cases on board

This setup fits boats that need speakers mounted on a rail, tower, or hardtop, such as center consoles, wake boats, and RIBs. It also suits personal watercraft and other open rigs where you want sound aimed at riders without cutting into body panels.

Maintenance and care

Rinse off salt spray when you can and wash the grilles with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh solvents on the grille finish, and re-check mounting hardware periodically if the boat sees heavy vibration or frequent trailering.
