Overview
The JL Audio 010-13722-00 is a pair of billet aluminum tweeter mounting pods with a clear anodized finish for surface or deck installs on boats.
Each pod is machined from a single piece of aluminum and uses a slightly up-angled base, which helps aim the highs toward the cockpit instead of straight across the deck. A dedicated wire pathway lets you route the tweeter leads out of sight so the install stays clean.
For layout and clearance, each pod measures 2.38 in (60 mm) in diameter with a mounted height of 2.50 in (64 mm) and a mounted depth of about 3.55 in (90 mm). Tweeters are not included.
Key features
- Billet aluminum pod with a clear anodized finish that resists corrosion in a saltwater environment
- Surface or deck mounting style for installs where a flush mount is not practical
- Slightly up-angled base to help spread high frequencies across seating areas
- Internal pathway to route and conceal tweeter wiring
- Made to house Legacy JL Audio M-Series component tweeters (sold separately)
- Pod dimensions: 2.38 in (60 mm) diameter, 2.50 in (64 mm) mounted height, 3.55 in (90 mm) mounted depth
What's included
- Two tweeter mounting pods (one pair)
Compatibility and fit
These pods are sized for Legacy JL Audio M-Series component tweeters. If you are pairing them with a different series or a different brand, confirm the tweeter body and flange dimensions before drilling so the tweeter seats correctly in the pod.
Installation and setup
Pick a mounting spot with enough backside clearance for the 3.55 in (90 mm) mounted depth and a protected route for the speaker wire. On thin fiberglass, aluminum, or composite panels, backing washers or a backing plate help keep the mount solid under vibration.
After drilling, seal exposed core material and fastener holes to keep water out of the laminate. Route audio wiring away from high-current power runs and ignition components to help avoid noise in the system.
Use on board
Common mounting locations include a T-top, hardtop, radar arch, wake tower, and under-gunwale areas where you want the highs aimed toward the cockpit. This is a good match for boats that get regular spray and need a clean, sturdy surface-mount option for component tweeters.
