Overview
The Victron Energy MEGA-fuse 58V for 48V is a high-current DC fuse for 48V battery banks, inverter feeds, charger circuits, and main DC distribution on boats with Victron-based power systems. It uses the MEGA fuse format and is rated up to 58V, giving 48V installations the correct voltage class rather than relying on lower-voltage 12V or 24V fuse options.
This fuse range is meant for circuits where fault current protection matters, such as lithium battery banks, inverter chargers, DC busbars, and distribution points in an engine room, technical locker, or electrical compartment. The available current ratings cover 125A, 200A, 250A, and 300A, so the fuse can be matched to the cable size, equipment rating, and protection plan for the vessel.
Key features
- 58V MEGA fuse range for 48V DC systems on marine and mobile power installations.
- Available in 125A, 200A, 250A, and 300A ratings to suit different high-current circuit requirements.
- Suitable for overcurrent protection on battery, inverter, charger, and DC distribution circuits when sized correctly for the installation.
- MEGA fuse format works with compatible MEGA fuse holders and Victron DC distribution hardware.
- Useful in compact electrical spaces where a bolt-down fuse is needed for a secure high-current connection.
Variants
This product is offered in multiple current ratings within the same 58V MEGA-fuse range for 48V systems.
The current rating changes between variants. The 58V rating and MEGA fuse format remain consistent across the listed configurations.
- CIP137125010, Current Rating 125A. This rating is used for lower-current 48V circuits where the cable and connected equipment are protected at 125 amps.
- CIP137200010, Current Rating 200A. This rating suits larger 48V DC loads that require protection at 200 amps.
- CIP137250010, Current Rating 250A. This rating fits high-current 48V distribution runs where the installation calls for a 250 amp fuse.
- CIP137300010, Current Rating 300A. This rating is used on demanding 48V circuits where the cable, holder, and connected equipment are specified for 300 amp protection.
Installation and system fit
Select the fuse rating from the equipment manual, conductor ampacity, and the layout of the DC protection system. On a boat, that usually means confirming the 48V battery bank voltage, the maximum expected current, the cable gauge, the fuse holder rating, and the available fault current before installing the fuse.
The fuse should be mounted in a compatible MEGA fuse holder with clean, tight connections. Keep it in a protected electrical location away from standing water, direct spray, and unnecessary heat, while still leaving enough access for inspection and replacement.
Use cases on board
This MEGA-fuse range is a good match for vessels using 48V DC architecture for inverters, lithium battery systems, bow thrusters, windlasses, chargers, or larger DC distribution panels. It is especially relevant for refits and new builds where the electrical system needs clear circuit protection with ratings that match high-current 48V equipment.
