Overview

The Vimar VM16714 is a 4-module mounting frame with fixing screws for Vimar rectangular 4-module flush mounting boxes in the Idea system, finished in grey.

It is the piece that holds the modular inserts in place behind the cover plate, so your switches, outlets, or other Idea modules sit straight and stay secure when the boat is moving.

This frame is a mechanical fitting only; the electrical ratings and wiring details come from the modules and the mounting box you pair it with.

Compatibility and fit

This is sized for 4-module Vimar Idea layouts and is meant for rectangular 4-module mounting boxes. It is not a match for round junction boxes or floor-box style enclosures.

Common box pairings include VMV71304, VMV71304.AU, and VMV71614, and it is used behind 4-module Idea cover plates (round or square styles).

Installation and setup

Mount the compatible flush box solidly in the bulkhead or panel opening, then fasten the frame with the supplied screws. With the frame secured, the modular inserts are fitted from the back side before the cover plate is installed.

On boats, take a moment to confirm the box is supported so vibration does not work the panel loose over time, especially in helms and high-traffic cabin areas.

Use on board

This frame is a good match when you are building or refreshing a Vimar Idea switch or outlet station at the helm, nav desk, galley, or cabin entry, where you want a tidy flush finish with standard Idea modules.

If the location sees frequent spray or washdowns, pair the assembly with an appropriate cover plate or enclosure so the electrical parts are protected for that environment.
