Overview
The Raymarine A80320 is a B175H-W 1 kW bronze thru-hull CHIRP transducer with a 12° tilted element for fiberglass or wood hulls with 8° to 15° deadrise. It reads depth and water temperature, using a high-wide CHIRP frequency range of 150 to 250 kHz with a fixed 25° beam for broad coverage under the boat.
This transducer suits anglers who want a wider view of the water column without fitting a large fairing block. The tilted element helps keep the sonar beam aimed correctly after installation on a moderately angled hull, which matters when running offshore, searching structure, or tracking fish while the boat is moving.
The unit includes a 6 ft / 2 m pigtail and requires the proper Raymarine transducer extension or operation cable to complete the installation. Plan the cable run before cutting the hull, especially on center consoles and sportfishing boats where the transducer may be several feet from the sonar module or display network.
Key features
- 1 kW RMS output for use with compatible Raymarine CHIRP sonar systems.
- High-wide CHIRP operation from 150 to 250 kHz for broad coverage and target detail in the upper water column.
- Fixed 25° beam width gives more side-to-side sonar coverage than narrow high-frequency transducer options.
- 12° tilted element suits hulls with 8° to 15° deadrise, helping aim the sonar beam vertically after installation.
- Thru-hull installation with a low-profile bronze body for boats where a clean underwater profile matters.
- Reads both depth and water temperature from one transducer.
- Rated for depth readings up to 800 ft, with real-world performance depending on water conditions, bottom type, installation quality, and connected sonar hardware.
- Approved for fiberglass and wood hulls.
- Supplied with a 6 ft / 2 m pigtail and requires a matching Raymarine cable to finish the system connection.
Installation and fit
This is a thru-hull transducer, so installation requires drilling the hull and bedding the fitting correctly. The 12° tilt should be matched to the boat’s deadrise at the mounting location, not just the published deadrise at the transom. A clean water flow location is important, away from strakes, thru-hulls, prop wash, and other sources of aerated water.
The bronze construction makes it a strong match for fiberglass and wood hulls. It should not be used on metal hulls unless the installation is specifically engineered to prevent corrosion and isolation issues. As with any thru-hull fitting, final installation should follow proper marine sealing and inspection practices.
Electrical and sonar integration
The B175H-W is intended for compatible Raymarine CHIRP sonar equipment. It is not a self-contained network sensor, and it does not plug directly into an NMEA 2000 backbone. The transducer cable must be routed to the correct sonar input or module using the appropriate Raymarine extension or operation cable.
Because the wide-beam version uses a short pigtail, check the complete cable path before installation. Allow enough service loop for strain relief, avoid sharp bends, and keep the cable away from high-current DC wiring where possible to reduce the chance of interference.
Use cases on board
This transducer is a strong fit for coastal and offshore fishing boats that use Raymarine CHIRP sonar and need more coverage under the hull when looking for bait, game fish, or bottom changes. The wide beam is especially useful when the goal is to see more of the water column rather than only a narrow slice directly below the boat.
It also works well on boats where a low-profile thru-hull is preferred over a transom mount or a large external fairing. For best results, the hull angle, mounting location, cable path, and connected sonar hardware should all be checked before installation begins.
