Overview
The Garmin 010-10878-10 is a handheld remote that connects wirelessly to let you control a compatible GPSMAP chartplotter from around the boat.
It works with GPSMAP 7400 and 7600 series chartplotter displays and runs on two AAA batteries (not included). The black, keyed layout gives you button control when reaching for the touchscreen is awkward or when the boat is moving.
A cradle and lanyard help keep the remote close by at the helm and secured when you step into the cockpit or up on deck.
Key features
- Wireless control for GPSMAP 7400 and 7600 series chartplotter displays.
- Keyed, tactile buttons for screen control without using the chartplotter touchscreen.
- Pairs from the chartplotter menu (Settings > Communications > Wireless Devices > Wireless Remotes > GPSMAP Remote > New Connection).
- One remote can be connected to multiple chartplotters and switched between them.
- Remote backlight can be turned on or off from the chartplotter settings to help manage battery life.
- Powered by two AAA batteries (not included), so there is no helm power wiring required.
- Includes a cradle for stowage and a lanyard to keep the remote secured onboard.
Compatibility and fit
This remote is for GPSMAP chartplotter systems that support the GPSMAP Remote wireless accessory. Confirm your chartplotter series before ordering, especially on mixed-display installs where multiple generations may be onboard.
Installation and setup
Mount the cradle where you can grab the remote quickly at the helm, then start pairing from the chartplotter wireless remote menu and follow the on-screen prompts. Once paired, the remote can be managed from the chartplotter settings, including backlight control.
On-board use
This is a good match for boats where the chartplotter is mounted a bit out of reach, and for skippers or anglers who move between the helm and cockpit while still wanting quick chart control. Keeping the lanyard attached and carrying spare AAA batteries in a dry locker helps avoid surprises on longer runs.
