Overview
The Raymarine T70250 is an EV-100 Power Pilot autopilot pack for smaller powerboats with hydraulic steering and a single outboard. It includes a 0.5-liter hydraulic autopilot pump for steering cylinder capacities from 50 cc to 110 cc (3.1 to 6.7 cubic inches), so the first fit check is the volume of the boat's existing steering cylinder.
This package uses the EV-1 sensor core and ACU-100 actuator control unit to hold course through changing sea conditions without a long calibration routine. The ACU-100 is for 12 V DC systems and operates from 10.8 to 15.6 V DC, with a maximum continuous drive current output of 7 A at supply voltage.
This is the version without a dedicated control head. It suits installs where a compatible Raymarine Axiom chartplotter will handle autopilot control, or where a separate p70Rs control head will be added at the helm.
Key features
- EV-100 hydraulic autopilot package for smaller powerboats with single outboard hydraulic steering.
- 0.5-liter hydraulic pump supports steering cylinder capacities from 50 cc to 110 cc (3.1 to 6.7 cubic inches).
- EV-1 sensor core uses a 9-axis heading sensor to adapt to sea state and vessel movement.
- Hydro-Balance steering control compensates for hydraulic steering elasticity to reduce steering oscillation and drive-unit hunting.
- ACU-100 actuator control unit connects to a 12 V DC supply and supports an operating range of 10.8 to 15.6 V DC.
- Control head is sold separately, giving helm layouts room to use a compatible Raymarine Axiom chartplotter or add a p70Rs control head.
Compatibility and fit
This autopilot pack is built around outboard hydraulic steering, not cable steering or a mechanical wheel drive. It is a practical match for center consoles, small cruisers, and fishing boats where the hydraulic cylinder falls within the 50 cc to 110 cc range and the boat runs a 12 V DC electrical system.
Before installation, confirm the steering cylinder volume, available helm space for controls, hydraulic hose routing, and the location of the vessel's existing Raymarine network or chartplotter. Boats with steering cylinders outside the stated range, 24 V-only electrical systems, or steering layouts that do not use hydraulic outboard steering will need a different autopilot configuration.
Installation and setup
The ACU-100 measures 180 mm wide, 140 mm high, and 52 mm deep, which helps when planning a protected mounting location near the steering system and power feed. The drive electronics are rated IPX6 and the connector panel is rated IPX2, so the unit should still be mounted where it is shielded from standing water, direct washdown spray at the connectors, and service damage.
The EV-1 sensor core can be mounted above or below decks. A clean mounting location away from strong magnetic interference will help the heading sensor do its job, especially on boats with speakers, large power cables, batteries, or ferrous hardware near the helm.
Electrical and system integration
The system is centered on Raymarine's Evolution autopilot architecture, using the EV-1 for heading and motion sensing, the ACU-100 for actuator control, and the 0.5L/12V pump for the hydraulic steering movement. SeaTalkng cabling is included for network integration, and the ACU-100 has a NMEA 2000 Load Equivalency Number of 1.
Because this package does not include a control head, the helm control plan matters. A compatible Raymarine Axiom chartplotter can provide autopilot control, while a p70Rs control head can be added when a dedicated autopilot interface is preferred at the wheel.
Use cases on board
For coastal runs, fishing grounds, and long transits on a properly matched outboard hydraulic boat, this pilot helps reduce constant wheel input while keeping the boat on course. It is especially useful when the operator wants steadier tracking while managing navigation, crew, rods, or deck tasks.
