Overview
The Attwood Marine 912036B is a gas fill subassembly with a black flip top cap for gasoline systems that use a 1-1/2 inch I.D. fuel hose and a 5/8 inch I.D. vent hose. It combines the fill and vent functions in one deck fitting, which helps keep the fuel fill area simpler on boats where deck space and hose routing are limited.
The neck opening accepts fuel nozzles up to 1 inch O.D. Above deck, the fitting measures 4 inches long, 3.25 inches wide, and 5/16 inch high, with a below deck depth of 3.5 inches. The mounting flange uses four holes for #8 fasteners, and the body is built from cast aluminum and stainless steel with a black two piece plastic cap.
This is a practical piece for a fuel fill location that sees regular sun and spray, but it is still a fuel fill fitting rather than a watertight deck plate. The cap is not watertight when closed, so it belongs in the normal fuel fill position on deck and should be installed as part of a properly bonded fuel system.
Key features
- For gasoline fill systems with 1-1/2 inch I.D. fuel hose and 5/8 inch I.D. vent hose
- Combined fill and vent layout removes the need for a separate tank vent fitting
- Neck opening accepts fuel nozzles up to 1 inch O.D.
- Cast aluminum and stainless steel construction with a black two piece plastic cap
- Built in splash guard at the neck helps manage fuel during filling
- Mounts at 90 degree intervals independent of the fill neck angle
- 4 inch x 3.25 inch above deck footprint with 3.5 inch below deck depth
- Four hole mounting flange for #8 fasteners
- Requires a bonding wire to prevent sparking when the nozzle is inserted
- Cap is not watertight when closed
Compatibility and fit
This fitting is for gas applications and should be matched to the hose sizes already in the boat or planned for the installation. The 1-1/2 inch fuel hose size and 5/8 inch vent hose size are common on many powerboats, but deck fills are not universal, so the hose I.D., deck footprint, screw pattern, and below deck clearance all need to line up before you swap out an existing unit.
It suits boats where the fill location is on an angled or crowded section of deck and where a combined fill and vent setup keeps the installation cleaner than using separate components. On older refits, it is worth checking the current fill body and mounting pattern rather than assuming a gas fill will interchange by appearance alone.
Installation and setup
The flange can be oriented in 90 degree increments, which helps when the best cap position on deck does not match the easiest hose angle below deck. That makes it easier to keep the opening accessible at the rail, cockpit side, or gunwale while still routing the fuel and vent hose without sharp bends.
Install it with the correct fuel hose, vent hose, fasteners, bonding wire, and deck sealant for the application. Because the cap is not watertight, this fitting should sit where washdown water can drain away normally and where the deck surface around the flange stays in the same service conditions intended for a fuel fill.
Use on board
This is a good match for owners replacing an older combined gas fill and vent fitting on runabouts, center consoles, fishing boats, and similar powerboats. It also makes sense in refit work where below deck space is tight and the fill location needs some flexibility in how the body is clocked during installation.
