Overview
The Raymarine A22154 is a DST800 analog nylon thru-hull transducer that combines depth, speed through water, and water temperature sensing in one 2-inch fitting. It is made for Raymarine instrument systems and connects to compatible displays or transducer interfaces using a 14 m, 45 ft cable with analog spade connectors.
This transducer is a practical replacement or upgrade when a boat owner wants depth, paddlewheel speed, and water temperature from a single through-hull location instead of separate sensors. The 200 kHz depth element, retractable housing, and water valve make it well suited to sailboats and powerboats where regular cleaning of the speed paddlewheel may be needed during the season.
Key features
- Combines depth, speed through water, and water temperature in one thru-hull transducer.
- Analog output for compatible Raymarine instrument systems, including i40 Bidata, i50 Tridata, and iTC-5 installations.
- 200 kHz depth frequency for use with analog depth instruments.
- 14 m, 45 ft cable with spade connectors for connection to supported Raymarine instrument wiring.
- 2-inch plastic thru-hull housing suitable for fiberglass or metal hull installations.
- Retractable insert with water valve helps make paddlewheel cleaning and maintenance more manageable.
- 0° internal element for flat or near-horizontal mounting positions.
- Compatible with many legacy Raymarine analog instrument setups, including ST40, ST60, ST60+, ST70, and transducer pod systems.
Installation and setup
The A22154 is installed through the hull, so placement matters. The transducer should be mounted where it can stay in clean, non-aerated water while the boat is moving, away from strakes, intakes, discharge fittings, propeller wash, or heavy turbulence. On sailboats, the fan-shaped depth beam helps maintain bottom readings when the boat is heeled, as long as the mounting location is appropriate.
Because this is an analog transducer, calibration is handled by the connected instrument or converter rather than inside the transducer itself. When connected through an iTC-5, calibration is carried out from a network-connected Axiom chartplotter or i70s instrument. Final speed calibration should be done on the water so the paddlewheel reading matches the boat’s actual performance.
Compatibility and system integration
This DST800 is intended for Raymarine analog instrument systems, not as a direct plug-in sensor for NMEA 2000, SeaTalkng, Ethernet, or Bluetooth networks. For networked Raymarine systems, it is commonly used through an iTC-5 transducer converter, which passes the instrument data into the wider Raymarine system.
It is a good match for boats using Raymarine i40, i50, ST40, ST60, ST60+, ST70, or compatible transducer pod setups where depth, speed, and temperature data are needed from one thru-hull location. It can also retrofit into selected Airmar P17, B17, P617V, B617V, and SS617V housings, which can be useful when replacing an existing sensor during service or haul-out.
Use cases on board
For coastal cruising, club racing, fishing, or general day boating, this transducer gives the helm core instrument data without adding multiple hull penetrations. Depth helps with shoal awareness and anchoring decisions, speed through water is useful for sail trim and performance checks, and water temperature can support fishing and general situational awareness.
Maintenance and care
The retractable housing and water valve help simplify routine service, especially for the paddlewheel speed sensor, which can collect fouling in saltwater or warm-water marinas. Inspect the insert, O-rings, and paddlewheel as part of regular hull maintenance, and clean the sensor carefully so the moving parts can spin freely.
