Overview
The Raymarine Element HV is a fishfinder and GPS chartplotter series with HyperVision sonar, offered in 7-inch, 9-inch, and 12-inch display configurations for anglers who want sonar detail and navigation in one helm or console display. The range uses 1.2 MHz CHIRP HyperVision for DownVision, SideVision, and RealVision 3D imaging, with standard 350 kHz CHIRP and 200 kHz high CHIRP sonar also supported for longer-range bottom and fish targeting.
Each Element HV display runs on a 12 V dc supply with an 8 V dc to 16 V dc operating range, includes an internal GPS/GNSS receiver, and has a sunlight-viewable display rated at 1500 nits. The housing is rated IPx6 and IPx7, so it suits open cockpits, center consoles, skiffs, and exposed fishing stations where spray, rain, and washdowns are part of normal use.
For system integration, the display includes a SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 connection through the power cable, 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi, a 15-pin HyperVision transducer port, and a microSDXC card slot for charts and data. It is a practical fit for fishing boats that need clear sonar returns, waypoint control, basic network data sharing, and chart options without moving to a larger multifunction display system.
Key features
- HyperVision 1.2 MHz CHIRP sonar supports high-detail DownVision, SideVision, and RealVision 3D views for reading structure, vegetation, bottom changes, and fish around the boat.
- Standard 350 kHz CHIRP imaging extends sonar range, with DownVision specified up to 183 m and SideVision or RealVision 3D specified up to 91 m in standard mode.
- 200 kHz high CHIRP sonar supports bottom tracking and fish targeting to depths up to 274 m when paired with a compatible transducer setup.
- Sunlight-viewable 1500-nit display helps keep charts and sonar readable from an exposed helm, T-top console, or cockpit mounting position.
- IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof ratings support installation in wet marine locations where spray and washdowns are expected.
- Built-in GPS/GNSS supports GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou, with SBAS support including WAAS for improved positioning where available.
- SeaTalkng / NMEA 2000 connectivity allows connection to compatible network data, including supported engine and tank information.
- LightHouse Sport operating system, a waypoint key, and three user-programmable keys keep common fishing and navigation actions close at hand.
- microSDXC card slot supports chart cards and data storage, while Wi-Fi supports compatible wireless functions through the display.
Variants
The Element HV range varies by display size, chart bundle, and transducer bundle. Display options are 7-inch, 9-inch, and 12-inch class units, with the Element 12 using a 12.1-inch diagonal display and a 1280 x 800 resolution; the 7-inch and 9-inch displays use 800 x 480 resolution.
Chart options include no chart or a North America LightHouse Charts bundle, and selected configurations include the HV-100 transducer. The HV-100 bundle is the transom-mount option for using the Element HV sonar channels through a single transducer installation; no-transducer versions are better matched to installations where a compatible transducer is already planned separately.
Installation and setup
The display can be mounted on the supplied trunnion bracket or surface mounted, which gives flexibility for center consoles, aluminum fishing boats, pilothouse dashboards, and smaller helm panels. Power planning is straightforward for 12 V systems: the unit calls for a 5 A inline fuse or a 3 A thermal breaker, with approximate power consumption of 15 W for Element 7, 20 W for Element 9, and 25 W for Element 12 at 12 V dc.
Transducer-bundled versions reduce the number of major sonar parts to source separately, especially for transom-mount installations. The display has one 15-pin HyperVision connector, so transducer choice should be checked against the hull type, mounting location, and the sonar views needed before installation.
Compatibility and onboard use
Element HV works well for inshore fishing, freshwater fishing, coastal runs, and smaller offshore boats where the main need is chart navigation plus detailed sonar imaging. HyperVision is strongest for close-range, high-detail scanning, while the standard sonar modes are useful when reading deeper water, tracking bottom, or running at speed.
North America chart variants add mapping value for boaters operating in that region, while no-chart variants leave chart selection open for the customer or installer. The NMEA 2000 connection also makes the display useful on boats where GPS, engine, or tank data may be shared across a simple marine network.
