Overview
The Raymarine Element S is a button-controlled chartplotter and fishfinder display for boaters who want straightforward GPS navigation, chart viewing, and basic sonar capability without moving into a full touchscreen MFD system. It uses a fast 10 Hz GPS/GNSS receiver and runs Raymarine LightHouse Sport, a simple operating system that keeps chart pages, routes, waypoints, and sonar views easy to manage from the helm.
This series is built around 7 inch and 12.1 inch display options in the configurations listed here. Both sizes use sunlight-viewable screens rated at 1500 nits, connect to 12 V DC systems with an 8 V DC to 16 V DC operating range, and carry IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof ratings for exposed helm and cockpit installations.
Element S supports Raymarine LightHouse Charts, Navionics, and C-MAP charting, with selected variants supplied with preloaded LightHouse Charts North America. It also gives boats a practical path into NMEA 2000 data, optional Quantum wireless radar, AIS, engine, tank, instrument, VHF, and autopilot integration when the rest of the system is set up for it.
Key features
- Button-controlled interface with LightHouse Sport OS for simple operation underway, including quick access to common navigation pages and waypoint marking.
- Fast 10 Hz GPS/GNSS receiver with GPS, GLONASS, and Beidou compatibility for position updates used in chart navigation and tracking.
- Sunlight-viewable 1500 nit display for use at exposed helm stations, flybridges, center consoles, and sailboat cockpits.
- Built-in High CHIRP sonar capability with a 15-pin transducer connection for depth and bottom contour viewing when paired with a compatible transducer.
- SeaTalkng and NMEA 2000 connection through the power cable for integration with compatible marine electronics, including AIS, instruments, engines, tanks, VHF, and autopilot systems.
- 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi support for compatible wireless features, including optional Quantum wireless radar connection.
- IPX6 and IPX7 waterproof ratings for marine installations exposed to spray, rain, and routine washdowns.
- MicroSDXC card slot for chart cards and data storage.
Variants
The Element S range is offered here in 7 inch and 12 inch display configurations, with chart package options that determine whether the unit is supplied as a standard chartplotter package or with LightHouse Charts North America.
The display size affects screen space at the helm and the available mounting footprint. The chart package changes the included cartography, while the core Element S navigation platform, button interface, GPS/GNSS receiver, sonar capability, NMEA 2000 connection, Wi-Fi, and waterproof rating remain consistent across these listed configurations.
- E70531: 7 inch display with Standard chart package. This configuration fits smaller helm stations, compact consoles, and sailboat cockpits where space is limited but a dedicated chartplotter and sonar-capable display is still needed.
- E70531-00-102: 7 inch display with LightHouse Charts North America. This version keeps the compact 7 inch format and adds preloaded North America chart coverage for coastal and inland navigation planning.
- E70535: 12 inch display with Standard chart package. The larger screen gives more room for chart detail, split views, and route work at a main helm or larger console.
- E70535-00-102: 12 inch display with LightHouse Charts North America. This configuration pairs the larger Element S display with preloaded North America chart coverage for boats that need more screen area and included regional cartography.
Installation and setup
Element S can be installed with the supplied trunnion bracket or surface-mounted with the included gasket and stainless steel fixings. The 7 inch model measures 239.60 mm wide by 135.10 mm high in surface mount form, while the 12 inch model measures 357.20 mm wide by 215.20 mm high, so checking the console cutout area and viewing angle before installation is important.
The unit is intended for 12 V DC boat systems and uses an inline 5 A fuse or 3 A thermal breaker. The supplied power and NMEA 2000 cable includes a 1.5 m power lead and a 0.5 m NMEA 2000 lead, which helps keep helm wiring straightforward when tying into an existing backbone or planning a new network run.
Compatibility and use on board
This chartplotter is a good match for coastal cruising, fishing, small powerboats, center consoles, and sailboats where keypad control is preferred over a touchscreen. The 7 inch version suits tighter dashboards and secondary stations, while the 12 inch version gives more chart and sonar space for a main helm.
For fishfinding and depth work, a compatible High CHIRP transducer is needed. For networked navigation, the boat must have the correct NMEA 2000 or SeaTalkng backbone, power, termination, and compatible connected devices.
