Overview
The Blue Sea Systems 5061 is a waterproof in-line fuse holder for AGC and MDL glass fuses. It accepts 12 to 18 AWG wire and is built for fuse ratings up to 30A, which makes it a practical choice for protecting a single DC circuit in wet areas on board.
This holder works well when a circuit needs local overcurrent protection instead of returning to a larger fuse panel. On a boat, that can make sense for accessory wiring behind the helm, under a console, inside a locker, or anywhere a fuse holder may be exposed to spray or damp conditions. The fuse is sold separately, so the final fuse value can be matched to the circuit and wire size being protected.
Key features
- Fits AGC and MDL glass fuses for straightforward replacement or new installations built around that fuse style.
- Accepts 12 to 18 AWG wire, covering many common branch-circuit and accessory wiring runs on board.
- Supports fuse ratings up to 30A.
- Waterproof in-line design helps protect the fuse connection in wet installation areas.
- Fuse is not included, allowing the circuit to be matched with the correct amperage fuse for the load and conductor size.
Installation and fit
This fuse holder is intended for circuits that use AGC or MDL glass fuses and wiring in the 12 to 18 AWG range. Before installation, confirm that the wire gauge, expected current draw, and chosen fuse value all line up with the equipment being protected.
Because it is an in-line holder, it suits installations where protection needs to sit directly in the circuit run rather than on a panel. That is often useful for electronics, lighting, pumps, and other accessory feeds where a simple sealed holder is easier to place close to the power lead.
Use on board
This is a sensible fit for boat owners and installers who need fuse protection on a single accessory circuit in a location that may see moisture. It also makes sense on refits and repairs where an existing AGC or MDL fuse setup needs a holder that is better suited to marine conditions.
