Overview
The Garmin 010-11602-00 is a portable friction mount that sits on a dashboard-style surface so you can keep a compatible Garmin handheld in view without drilling holes or sticking anything to the boat. It is a practical option when you want a temporary setup at the helm, on a cabin dash, or at the nav table, especially if you move the same handheld between the tow vehicle and the boat.
This mount is not powered, so it does not charge your device on its own. If you plan to run the handheld all day on a 12V system, you will still use the device’s normal power lead or rely on its internal battery. When used with an inReach Mini or inReach Mini 2, a spine mount adapter is required.
Key features
- Dashboard-style friction base for quick placement and removal without hardware or adhesive
- Mounting arm and handheld bracket to keep the screen readable and steady for normal helm viewing
- Useful alternative when suction-cup windshield mounts are not allowed or you prefer to keep glass clear
- Not a powered mount; no built-in charging or wiring
- Supports many Garmin handheld families, including GPSMAP 62, 64, 66, 79 and 86 series, eTrex 10, 20, 22x, 30 and 32x, Oregon series, Dakota series, Rino 610, 650, 655, 750 and 755t, and inReach Explorer+
- inReach Mini and inReach Mini 2 use requires a spine mount adapter
What’s included
- Friction base
- Mounting arm
- Handheld mounting bracket
Compatibility and fit
This mount is intended for compatible Garmin handheld units, not fixed-mount chartplotters. It is commonly paired with handheld GPS and communicator lines such as GPSMAP 62, 64, 66, 79 and 86 series, eTrex 10, 20, 22x, 30 and 32x, Oregon series, Dakota series, Rino 610, 650, 655, 750 and 755t, and inReach Explorer+.
It is not compatible with eTrex Legend, eTrex Vista, and eTrex Summit models, and it is not compatible with GPSMAP 60 series units. For inReach Mini and inReach Mini 2, plan on adding the appropriate spine mount adapter to match the device’s mount interface.
Installation and setup
Set the base on a clean, dry, relatively flat surface where it can sit fully supported, then adjust the arm so the screen is easy to read from your normal seating or standing position. On boats with steeply angled dashes or heavy non-skid textures, check that the base lays flat and does not creep under vibration.
Because it is a friction mount, treat it as a temporary hold-down rather than a permanent offshore solution. In open cockpits, high heat, or rough water where spray and sudden impacts are likely, stow the setup or secure the handheld separately.
Use cases on board
This mount makes sense for boaters who keep a handheld as a backup navigator, for dinghy trips, or for sharing one unit across multiple boats. It also works well for dockside route planning or quick position checks where you want the handheld upright and visible without committing to a drilled mount.
