Overview
The TACO Marine F16-0800-1 is a Come On Board fixed-base boarding handle for boats that need a steadier handhold at the dock, swim platform, transom, or gunwale. At 56-1/4 inches long with a 1-1/2 inch tube diameter, it gives passengers a tall, easy-to-reach grip when stepping on or off the boat.
The handle is made from Type 304 stainless steel and uses a finger-molded groove shape that helps the hand settle naturally around the tube. The fixed receiver base mounts permanently to the boat, while the handle separates into pieces for storage once you are underway.
This is a practical fit for owners who board often from a dock, platform, or tender and want a boarding aid that can be removed and stowed when it is not needed. The included mesh bag helps the handle dry after use and helps keep deck or storage surfaces from getting scratched.
Key features
- 56-1/4 inch overall length gives passengers a tall handhold during boarding.
- 1-1/2 inch diameter tube offers a substantial grip without feeling bulky in the hand.
- Type 304 stainless steel construction suits regular marine use around wet decks and dockside boarding areas.
- Finger-molded groove handle helps improve grip comfort when stepping between dock and boat.
- Fixed stainless-steel receiver base works for gunwale or transom platform mounting.
- Receiver base includes a drainage hole to help water clear from the mount area.
- Multiple-piece construction lets the handle come apart for storage after boarding.
- Supplied with a mesh storage bag for drying after wet use and for protecting deck or locker surfaces.
Installation and fit
The receiver base mounts permanently, so placement should be chosen where passengers naturally step aboard and where the structure can support boarding loads. Common locations include the gunwale near a dock boarding point or a transom platform area where a vertical handhold is useful.
Installation calls for a 1-3/4 inch hole saw, a 5/32 inch self-tapping screw bit for a size 12 screw, and a 1/4 inch self-tapping screw bit for the threaded bolt. Before drilling, check clearance below the mounting surface and confirm that the handle can be inserted, removed, and stowed without interfering with hatches, canvas, railings, or deck traffic.
Use on board
This handle is well suited to boats that see frequent dockside boarding, family cruising, fishing trips with guests moving on and off the boat, or swim platform access where an extra handhold makes the step feel more controlled. Once the boat is ready to leave the dock, the removable handle pieces can be placed in the mesh bag and stored in a locker or other dry-access area.
