Overview
The Raymarine T705478 is an Axiom 2 XL 24 multifunction display kit for a glass bridge helm, supplied with an RCR-SD/USB external card reader, alarm buzzer, and alarm/analog video cable. It gives larger cruisers, sportfish boats, and sailing yachts a 24 inch touchscreen chartplotter platform with LightHouse OS, a 6-core processor, and a Full HD IPS display with 1920 x 1200 WUXGA resolution.
This unit supports both 12 V DC and 24 V DC systems, with an 8 V DC to 32 V DC operating range and a 15 A fuse rating. The display is rated IPx6 and IPx7, so it is suitable for exposed helm stations as well as enclosed pilothouses where spray, washdowns, sunlight, and changing weather are part of normal use.
At the helm, the Axiom 2 XL 24 works as the central screen for charts, radar, sonar modules, autopilot data, cameras, engine information, and onboard apps. The 1300 nit screen, HydroTough nano-coated glass, and ambient light sensor help keep the display readable and usable through daytime runs, evening returns, and wet cockpit conditions.
Key features
- 24 inch IPS touchscreen with 1920 x 1200 WUXGA resolution and 1300 nit illumination for clear chart, radar, and camera viewing at a large helm.
- LightHouse OS with a 6-core processor and 64 GB solid state internal storage for waypoints, apps, and LightHouse Charts.
- Supports 12 V DC and 24 V DC installations, with an 8 V DC to 32 V DC operating range and 15 A fuse rating.
- IPx6 and IPx7 waterproof rating for use above deck or below deck.
- Three PoE RayNet Ethernet ports for networked marine electronics, with 10/100/1,000 Mbits/s support.
- NMEA 2000 connection through DeviceNet, with SeaTalkng connection using the supplied adapter cable.
- HDMI input and output, USB touch input and output, two composite BNC video inputs, RCA audio output, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth V4.0.
- HydroTough nano-coated glass helps repel water, oil, and smudges, which matters when the screen is touched with wet hands or exposed to spray.
- Kit format includes the external card reader, alarm buzzer, and alarm/analog video cable needed for a more complete helm installation.
Installation and fit
The Axiom 2 XL 24 measures 386.84 mm high x 578.40 mm wide x 177.39 mm deep including cables, and weighs 11.3 kg. It is meant for a fixed glass bridge style installation, so helm planning should include enough rear clearance for cabling, ventilation, service access, and the mounting hardware.
The included mounting gasket tape, rear mounting bars, mounting feet, and fixings support a clean panel installation. Because this is a large-format display, it is a strong match for main helm stations where a single screen needs to carry navigation, radar, video, and system data without feeling cramped.
Electrical and system integration
Power consumption is 92.5 W at 12 V DC and 77.96 W at 24 V DC. The NMEA 2000 LEN is 1, which helps when checking network load on an existing backbone. For boats already running Raymarine equipment, the RayNet, SeaTalkng, and NMEA 2000 connections make the display a practical center point for a larger navigation system.
The three PoE RayNet ports can support compatible network devices, while HDMI input and output allow the screen to work with video sources and external displays. The supplied card reader is useful when the display is mounted in a flush helm where direct card access would otherwise be awkward.
Use cases on board
This kit makes the most sense on vessels with enough helm space for a 24 inch display and enough onboard electronics to benefit from a single large control point. It suits offshore powerboats, sportfish boats, cruising yachts, and sailing yachts that need room for charting, radar overlay, AIS targets, engine data, cameras, and sailing tools on one screen.
For refits, it is also useful where the goal is to move from smaller separate displays to a cleaner glass bridge layout without giving up marine network connectivity.
