Overview
The Simrad 000-10760-001 is an NMEA 2000 Micro-C starter kit that gives you the core pieces to build a small backbone and start networking onboard electronics. It includes a 4.5 m (15 ft) N2K cable, three T-connectors, two network terminators, and a network power cable.
This kit is meant for creating a proper NMEA 2000 backbone so devices can share data like GPS, heading, depth, engine info, tank levels, and wind, depending on what you have installed. It is a practical starting point for a new install or for cleaning up a network that was pieced together over time.
Key features
- NMEA 2000 Micro-C backbone starter components in one kit for a clean, standards-based network layout
- Includes a 4.5 m (15 ft) N2K cable to form the initial backbone run between connection points
- Three T-connectors let you add multiple devices while keeping the backbone as a straight-through trunk
- Two terminators to correctly finish both ends of the backbone, which is required for stable network communication
- Network power cable to feed the backbone from the vessel DC system through a properly protected circuit
Installation and setup
A typical layout is a backbone cable with T-connectors joined in-line, with one terminator at each end. Devices connect to the vertical leg of a T using their own drop cable, keeping the backbone intact as you add equipment.
The power cable supplies the network. Connect it to a dedicated DC feed on your boat through an appropriate fuse or breaker, and route the backbone where it stays protected from chafe, standing water, and areas that see frequent snagging or foot traffic.
Compatibility and fit
Connections are NMEA 2000 Micro-C style. It fits systems that use standard Micro-C cabling and is commonly used across many marine electronics ecosystems that speak NMEA 2000. If some of your equipment uses a different physical connector style, an adapter cable may be required for those specific devices.
What’s included
- Network power cable
- 4.5 m (15 ft) N2K cable
- 3 T-connectors
- 2 network terminators
Use on board
This is a good match for boaters adding their first NMEA 2000 backbone for a chartplotter, autopilot, AIS, engine gateway, or sensor package, or for anyone who wants to start with the correct terminators and T-connectors instead of mixing parts. It also works well when you plan to expand later by adding more backbone extension cables and additional T-connectors as the network grows.
