Overview
The Garmin Fist Microphone Extension Cable is a 12-pin extension cable that adds extra reach for a compatible VHF setup using the GHS 11/11i fist microphone. It is used inline to extend the microphone lead so you can operate the radio comfortably from where you actually stand or steer, instead of being limited to the radio mounting location.
It is offered in 3 m (10 ft) and 10 m (33 ft) lengths, which covers everything from a short helm tidy-up to longer runs for a second station or raised helm. Because it keeps the original plug style, you get a clean install without cutting or splicing wiring.
Key features
- 12-pin inline extension for compatible Garmin VHF 210/210i radios using the GHS 11/11i fist microphone
- Available in 3 m (10 ft) and 10 m (33 ft) lengths for short and longer console runs
- Adds microphone reach for common layouts like center consoles, pilothouses, and dual-helm installations
- Single-cable solution that routes through conduits and chases like any other accessory lead
Variants
This product is offered in multiple cable lengths.
The only difference between variants is the overall cable length.
- 010-12523-00: Length 3 m (10 ft). Useful when the radio is mounted close to the helm but you need more slack for a cleaner route and service loops.
- 010-12523-03: Length 10 m (33 ft). Better suited to longer runs to a second operating position such as a flybridge, tower, or extended console layout.
Compatibility and fit
This extension is specific to the Garmin 12-pin microphone connection used with VHF 210/210i and the GHS 11/11i. It is not a universal mic extension and will not fit other connector styles.
Installation and routing
Measure the real path the cable will follow, including bends, bulkhead pass-throughs, and a little slack at each end so vibration does not pull on the connectors. Keep the run clear of sharp edges and moving parts, and avoid tight bends right at the plugs. On boats that see frequent spray or washdowns, it helps to keep the connection points accessible for periodic inspection and cleaning during routine electronics service.
Use on board
This cable makes sense for boats where the radio body is installed inside an electronics box or under a console, but the microphone needs to reach the helm, cockpit, or a remote station for docking, radio checks, and everyday communication.
