Overview
The Garmin 010-12506-00 is a 12-pin connector fist microphone made to work with Garmin VHF 210 and VHF 215 fixed-mount radios. It is a practical replacement when the original mic has a damaged cord, a sticky housing, or has simply seen too many seasons at an exposed helm.
This is a direct-swap style microphone that plugs into the radio using the same 12-pin connection, so you are not adapting wiring or changing the radio install. A hanger is not included, so plan to reuse your existing clip or mount a compatible holder where the mic can be stowed between calls.
Key features
- 12-pin connector for Garmin VHF 210 and VHF 215 radios
- Direct replacement microphone for a worn, missing, or damaged handset
- Lets you keep a spare mic on board for boats that see spray, sun, and vibration
- Hanger not included, so helm stowage can match your existing layout
Compatibility and fit
This microphone is intended for Garmin VHF 210 and VHF 215 models. It is not compatible with the Garmin VHF 200, so confirm your radio model on the faceplate or in the radio menu before ordering.
Installation and setup
Swap-in is straightforward: power down the VHF, unplug the existing microphone connection, and seat the 12-pin connector fully at the radio. Route the cable with a drip loop and secure it away from sharp edges, hinges, and steering components so it does not chafe over time. After installation, do a quick transmit and receive check on a working channel and confirm the mic can be stowed where it will not swing into instruments in rough water.
Use cases on board
This is a good match for boats where the fixed-mount radio stays protected in a console or cabin, but the handset lives at the helm and takes the daily wear. It also makes sense for owners who run offshore or fish hard and want a known-good backup microphone so the VHF stays usable when it matters.
Maintenance and care
Wipe the mic down with fresh water after salt spray and let it dry before long-term storage. Keep the connector clean and avoid tightly coiling the cord, which can stress the cable and the strain relief over time.
