Overview
The Perko 9611DP is a compact main battery disconnect switch for 6 to 32 VDC marine electrical systems. It is ignition protected, rated at 315 amps continuous and 450 amps intermittent for 5 minutes, and uses a 90 degree rotary on and off selector.
This switch gives you a clear way to isolate battery power when the boat is shut down, during service work, or when you need to cut power fast in an emergency. The 9611DP version is the basic non-locking model, and it uses the same bolt pattern as the Perko 8500 series, which helps on retrofit jobs.
Key features
- Works on 6 to 32 VDC systems, including common 12V, 24V, and 32V boat electrical setups
- Ignition protected for use in gasoline engine spaces where that protection is required
- 315A continuous rating and 450A intermittent rating for 5 minutes
- Surface-mount housing with a 4 in. width, 4 in. height, and 3 in. depth
- Polycarbonate body with 3/8 in. brass terminal studs
- Four removable skirt panels for cable access from different directions
- Smooth 90 degree rotary on and off selector that is easy to read at a glance
- Same bolt pattern as the Perko 8500 series for easier replacement work
Installation and fit
This switch is made for surface mounting and works well where battery compartments, console rigging spaces, or machinery areas do not leave much extra room. It takes about one-third less mounting space than the 8500 series, which can make a difference on crowded panels and bulkheads.
The terminal studs are long enough to handle more than one cable where the wiring layout calls for it, and the removable skirt panels make cable entry easier when heavy battery cables need to come in from the side that suits the boat.
Use on board
This is a good fit for boats that need a straightforward main battery shutoff rather than a selector switch. It suits owners who want to reduce battery drain while the boat sits, keep a service disconnect close at hand, and have a fast way to shut down the electrical system when needed.
Because it is ignition protected, it also works in gasoline-powered engine rooms where that detail matters. This model does not include a key lock or alternator field disconnect, so it is the simple on and off disconnect version in the 9611 range.
