Overview
The Simrad 24006298 is a SimNet 7-prong multi-joiner that gives you seven connection points for SimNet cabling. It is a straightforward way to bring several SimNet device drops together in one place, instead of chaining multiple inline joiners behind the dash.
This joiner uses 7-pin male sockets that accept female SimNet connectors, making it a clean hub for Simrad and B&G SimNet networks. It is commonly mounted inside the helm console, nav station, or an electronics locker where the network cables can be routed with strain relief and left accessible for service.
Key features
- Seven connection points for building out or tidying a SimNet network in one location
- 7-pin male sockets that accept female SimNet cables
- Works with Simrad and B&G devices that use SimNet cabling
- Supports a cleaner network layout behind the helm by reducing inline joiner stacking
- Unused ports can be sealed with SimNet protection plugs to help keep dust and moisture out (plugs not included)
- Useful in mixed networks when SimNet is being tied into NMEA 2000 Micro-C cabling via the appropriate adapter cables
Compatibility and fit
This multi-joiner is for SimNet cabling and connectors. If your boat has an NMEA 2000 backbone with Micro-C connectors, plan on using SimNet-to-Micro-C adapter cables to bridge between the two cable types where needed.
It is a good match when you are adding devices to an existing SimNet network, relocating electronics, or cleaning up a wiring bay where multiple SimNet drops currently meet.
Installation and setup
Mount the joiner where it stays protected from direct spray and washdowns, and where you can still reach it later for troubleshooting. Leave a little service loop on each cable and secure the cable runs so vibration does not load the connectors.
As with any SimNet backbone, make sure your overall network layout includes proper power injection and termination in the correct locations. This block is the connection point that keeps the cabling organized.
Maintenance and care
Periodically check that connectors are fully seated and that cable runs are not pulling on the joiner. If any ports are unused, keep them capped to reduce the chance of moisture or debris getting into the sockets, especially in damp helm consoles.
