Overview
The Simrad 000-13703-001 is a dash-mount Auto/Standby button that gives you a physical control for switching your autopilot between Auto and Standby at the helm.
It uses a metal push button and a splashproof build rated IPx5, with an operating temperature range of -25°C to +55°C (13°F to 131°F). The assembly weighs about 0.04 kg (0.09 lbs) including the cable, so it is easy to place on a dash panel without adding bulk.
Key features
- Physical Auto/Standby control at the helm for quick mode changes while underway
- Metal push button for a solid feel and long service life in high-use stations
- Splashproof IPx5 rating for open-helm installs that see spray and washdowns
- Rated to operate from -25°C to +55°C (13°F to 131°F)
- Commonly used as the Auto/Standby switch with NAC-1 and NAC-2 autopilot computers
Installation and setup
Mount the button where it is easy to reach when docking, running an inlet, or handing the wheel over to someone else. Plan for clearance behind the panel for the button body and cable routing, and keep the wiring away from steering linkages and sharp edges.
Wire the switch to the autopilot computer’s Auto/Standby input as part of your autopilot installation. Protect the feed with an appropriately sized fuse in the button circuit (3 A is commonly used in these installs), and use tinned marine wire with heat-shrink terminations to handle vibration and corrosion over time.
Compatibility and fit
This button is intended for Simrad autopilot systems where a dedicated Auto/Standby switch is required or preferred at the helm, especially when the pilot is otherwise controlled from a multifunction display. It is not a general-purpose panel switch, so confirm your autopilot computer has the correct Auto/Standby input before ordering.
Use cases on board
It is a good match for boats that regularly switch between autopilot steering and hand steering, such as sportfishing boats working a course line, cruisers approaching a marina, or any setup with a secondary station that benefits from a simple standby control close at hand.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt residue off the button after heavy spray or washdowns and avoid aggressive cleaners that can dull finishes. During routine checks, inspect the back of the panel for moisture and make sure the wiring remains supported and strain-relieved.
