Overview
The Raymarine RV-400 Series is a stainless steel through-hull RealVision 3D transducer range for inboard and outboard powerboats using compatible Raymarine Axiom+ RV, Axiom Pro RVX, or RVX-1000 sonar systems. It combines CHIRP sonar, DownVision, SideVision, and RealVision 3D in a through-hull format, giving anglers and cruisers a clearer view of fish, bottom structure, and the area around the hull.
The transducer uses 4-channel Wide Spectrum CHIRP sonar and includes an AHRS sensor that stabilizes the 3D image as the boat moves through chop, swell, or turns. It also includes a fast-response water temperature sensor, which is useful when fishing temperature breaks or checking changing water conditions during a run.
The stainless steel body suits fiberglass, wood, or metal hulls, and the low-profile shape keeps drag and cavitation down compared with bulkier installations. Physical size is 347.51 mm long, 180 mm high including cable bend radius, and 114 mm wide including the high-speed nose cone, with a listed weight of 3.12 kg.

Variants
The RV-400 Series includes single, port, starboard, and pack configurations with 0°, 12°, and 20° offset options. The 0° version is used for flatter hull sections, while the 12° and 20° versions are arranged as port and starboard through-hull transducers or matched packs for deadrise-compensated installations.
Across the range, the core transducer purpose remains the same: stainless steel through-hull RealVision 3D sonar for compatible Raymarine systems. Cable length varies by configuration, with the 0° RV-400 listed with an 8 m cable, individual port and starboard RV-4xx transducers listed with 2 m cables, and the split-pair packs supplied with an 8 m extension cable and 2 m Y-cable.
Installation and fit
This range is a good match for powerboats where a clean through-hull sonar installation is preferred over a transom-mounted transducer. The offset selection matters because the sonar elements need to sit correctly relative to hull deadrise, especially on deeper-V hulls where port and starboard pairs help keep the sonar view properly aligned.
The stainless steel body can be installed in fiberglass, wood, or metal hulls, with isolation parts included for separating the transducer body from dissimilar metals. That detail is especially important on metal hulls, where the installation needs to account for galvanic corrosion as well as watertight sealing and cable routing.
On-board use
On fishing boats, the RV-400 Series helps when reading structure, bait, and bottom changes while moving between spots or working along ledges. On cruising powerboats, the same imaging can add useful awareness of underwater features when exploring unfamiliar coastal areas, anchorages, or channels where sonar detail matters.
The low-profile through-hull format also makes sense for boats that are trailered or run at speed, since there is no large fairing block to cut and the housing keeps a cleaner shape under the hull. Final selection should be based on hull deadrise, mounting side, and the Raymarine display or sonar module already installed on board.
