Overview
The Raymarine Z195 is a Rotavecta wind transducer for measuring apparent wind speed and wind angle on compatible Raymarine instrument systems. It uses a single rotating sensor, which keeps the masthead or hardtop installation compact while still giving the display the wind data needed for day-to-day navigation and boat handling.
This unit includes a 20 m cable, about 65.6 ft, so it is suited to many mast, arch, rail, or hardtop runs without immediately needing an extension. The housing uses anodized aluminum and UV-stabilized plastic, a useful combination for exposed marine mounting where sun, spray, and vibration are part of normal service.
Physical fit should be checked before ordering: the surface-mounted height is 385 mm, the height with rail clamp is 426 mm, and the cup rotation diameter is 187 mm. It is a practical replacement or system component for owners who need wind information on a Raymarine instrument display without moving to a larger wind vane arm assembly.
Key features
- Measures apparent wind speed and wind angle through one rotating Rotavecta sensor.
- Includes a 20 m cable, equal to about 65.6 ft, for routing down a mast, arch, rail, or hardtop installation.
- Compatible with Raymarine i40 Wind, i60 Wind, ST60, and ST60+ instrument systems.
- Can be used with Raymarine i70 and i70s displays when connected through an iTC-5 instrument transducer converter.
- Construction uses anodized aluminum and UV-stabilized plastic for exposed marine locations.
- Compact footprint helps when the mounting area is crowded by antennas, lights, radar supports, or other deck hardware.
- Conforms to EN 60945:2002 and EMC Directive 2004/108/EC requirements for marine electronics environments.
Compatibility and fit
This transducer is for Raymarine wind instrument setups rather than a standalone NMEA 2000 wind sensor. For i70 or i70s installations, it should be planned as an analog transducer connected through an iTC-5 converter, which then brings the wind data into the Raymarine instrument network.
For replacement work on an older boat, check the existing display model, cable route, and mounting location before removing the old sensor. The 187 mm cup rotation diameter needs open clearance so the cups can spin freely, away from rigging, canvas, antennas, and masthead fittings that could disturb airflow or physically interfere with the sensor.
Installation and setup
The unit can be surface mounted or rail mounted, making it useful for both sailboats and powerboats depending on the available structure. A masthead position gives the cleanest airflow on most sailing installations, while a hardtop or arch position can work well on powerboats when the sensor is kept clear of nearby obstructions.
After installation, the connected instrument display should be set up and calibrated as required for the boat. Good cable routing matters: keep the run secure, avoid sharp bends, and protect the cable where it passes through deck or mast openings so movement and vibration do not work against the connection over time.

Use on board
This transducer makes sense for boat owners who want wind speed and angle data on compatible Raymarine instruments without a long masthead wind vane arm. It is especially useful where mounting space is limited, such as a crowded masthead, radar arch, or hardtop, and where a compact rotating sensor is easier to place and protect.
Maintenance and care
Like any exposed wind sensor, the moving parts should be checked during routine rig or electronics inspections. Keep the cups free of dirt, salt buildup, tape, bird debris, and lines that could restrict movement, and rinse the area with fresh water when washdowns are part of the boat’s normal care routine.
