Overview
The Blue Sea Systems MIDI/AMI Fuse is a compact fast-acting fuse range for main or branch circuit protection on DC electrical systems. It covers amperage ratings from 30A to 200A, with a maximum voltage of 32V DC, making it a practical match for many 12V and 24V boat circuits where the fuse rating needs to match the cable size, load, and fuse block.
These fuses use tin-plated copper connector blades for corrosion resistance and include a visible blown-fuse indication, which helps during troubleshooting in battery compartments, distribution panels, console wiring, and other areas where quick inspection matters. The range is ignition protected when used with the Blue Sea Systems SafetyHub family of products, supporting SAE J1171 installations where fuel vapor safety is part of the electrical layout.
Key features
- AMI/MIDI fuse format for compact main or branch DC circuit protection.
- Available in amperage ratings from 30A through 200A to match different circuit protection requirements.
- Maximum voltage rating of 32V DC for common marine 12V and 24V electrical systems.
- Interrupt capacity rated at 5000A at 16V DC and 2000A at 32V DC.
- Tin-plated copper CDA 110 connector blades help resist corrosion in marine electrical spaces.
- Visible blown-fuse indication makes fault checks quicker without removing unnecessary parts.
- Color-coded amperage identification reduces confusion when multiple fuse ratings are kept on board.
- Ignition protected when used with Blue Sea Systems SafetyHub products for installations requiring SAE J1171 protection.
- Operating temperature range of -40° C to 125° C for demanding onboard electrical environments.
Variants
This fuse range varies by amperage rating, with options from 30A, 40A, 50A, 60A, 70A, 80A, 100A, 125A, 150A, 175A, and 200A. The correct rating should be selected as part of the full circuit design, taking the connected load, conductor size, fuse holder, and applicable marine electrical standards into account.
Across the range, the AMI/MIDI format, 32V DC maximum voltage, tin-plated copper blade construction, visible blown-fuse indication, and package quantity remain consistent. The amperage rating is the key difference between configurations.
Compatibility and fit
These fuses work with Blue Sea Systems SafetyHub products and the 7720 AMI/MIDI Safety Fuse Block. The compact footprint suits battery distribution and protected accessory feeds where space is limited but high-current circuit protection is still needed.
Before installation, confirm that the fuse rating, fuse block, cable gauge, terminal hardware, and available fault current are all appropriate for the circuit. The listed maximum torque is 40 in-lb, or 4.52 Nm, which is important for secure connections without over-tightening the hardware.
Use on board
This range is a good match for boat owners and installers building or servicing DC distribution systems for electronics, pumps, charging equipment, windlass feeds, thrusters, or other protected circuits within the fuse rating range. It is especially useful where spare fuses need to be easy to identify and inspect during a fault.
Keep replacement fuses in the same amperage rating as the protected circuit. Replacing a blown fuse with a higher rating can leave wiring underprotected and should not be used as a shortcut for troubleshooting.
What’s included
- Two AMI/MIDI fuses in the selected amperage rating.
