Overview

The TACO Marine GS-500XL is a Pro Series outrigger mount pair for offshore sport-fishing boats with thicker hardtops, built to carry TACO Carbon Fiber Tele-Outriggers up to 24 feet long. It lets the crew adjust pole lift and rotation from the deck, which matters when the boat is moving, the spread is active, and reaching up to the hardtop is not practical.

This XL version uses a longer body for hardtops up to 4-1/2 inches thick. The Twist & Lock pole connection secures compatible poles without pins or bolts, while the controlled 180° rotation, safety detents, and locking head help keep pole movement predictable during deployment and trolling.

Construction combines cast stainless steel and machined aluminum, giving the base the strength needed for offshore outrigger loads without unnecessary bulk. The mount is suited to boats in the 32 to 50-plus foot range and is dredge load tested for a full professional fishing spread.

Installation and fit

The GS-500XL is made for hardtop installations where a longer mount body is needed. It includes matching 6 inch by 8 inch by 1/2 inch oval backing plates, which help spread load under the top and are especially useful on boats that see repeated pounding offshore.

Because this mount handles long carbon fiber outriggers and a full trolling spread, the hardtop structure should be checked before installation. Proper backing, bolt access, and clearance for the rotation and lifting handles are important parts of the fit check.

Compatibility and use on board

This mount is for TACO Carbon Fiber Tele-Outriggers and is not a general-purpose outrigger base for mixed pole types. It is a strong match for offshore center consoles and sport-fishing boats where the crew runs long poles, dredges, and multiple lines while keeping adjustments reachable from the deck.
