Overview

The TACO Marine GS-300XL is a Grand Slam 300XL outrigger mount for 1-1/2 inch outrigger poles, made for larger hardtops up to 4-1/2 inches thick. It gives offshore and coastal fishing boats deck-level control of outrigger lift and rotation, so the crew can deploy or adjust poles without reaching above the hardtop.

This mount uses a stainless-steel and polished anodized aluminum construction with an all-metal design and no plastic components. The arm can lift up to 46.5 degrees from horizontal for kite fishing and dock clearance, and the controlled 180 degree rotation helps keep pole movement manageable during setup, trolling, and retrieval.

The GS-300XL is sold as a pair and works with 1-1/2 inch outrigger poles, with compatibility noted for TACO Open Water internal and collapsible carbon fiber poles, plus aluminum or carbon fiber Tele-Outrigger poles up to 22 feet. It can also be used with an outrigger base reducer for 1-1/8 inch diameter poles.

Installation and fit

This mount is built for top-mount outrigger installations on fishing boats with a hardtop or T-top. The extra hardtop depth capacity is the key difference for buyers replacing a smaller top-mount system or rigging a larger center console, walkaround, or sport fishing boat.

Each mount weighs 15 pounds, for 30 pounds per pair, so the hardtop structure should be checked before installation. Backing plates are sold separately and are worth planning for when the top needs better load distribution under outrigger torque, vibration, and offshore running loads.

Use on board

The GS-300XL is a good match for anglers who run outriggers regularly and want lift and rotation control from a safer deck position. It suits trolling setups where controlled deployment matters, and it also helps when raising poles for kite fishing or clearing docks, bridges, and storage areas.

The underside locking pin connection and non-handed arm layout make the pair easier to manage during installation because the mounts are not separated into dedicated port and starboard units. That is useful for new installs as well as upgrades from older top-mount bases.
