The Garmin BlueChart g3 Vision HD VCA008R is a coastal electronic chart for compatible Garmin chartplotters, covering the western and southern coast of Newfoundland from the Strait of Belle Isle to Placentia Bay, including St. George's Bay and Fortune Bay, plus the coasts of Quebec and Labrador from La Romaine to Red Bay.

This is a Vision-level chart, which means you get navigation details plus extra layers that help with real-world piloting. Auto Guidance uses your preferred depth and overhead clearance settings to calculate a suggested route, and depth range shading lets you highlight up to 10 target depth ranges for quick at-a-glance decisions.

When your plotter supports it, you can also use 3D MarinerEye and FishEye views, high-resolution satellite imagery with charts overlaid, and detailed contours shown down to 1-foot increments for closer reading around structure, shoals, and tight approaches.

Variants

This chart is offered in two purchase formats.

The map content is the same; the difference is how you load it onto the chartplotter: a preloaded card or a download you install to a microSD or SD card using Garmin Express.

• 010-C0694-00: Format SD Card. Insert the programmed microSD/SD card into a compatible chartplotter with a card slot to access the chart and Vision features.
• 010-D0388-00: Format Download. Install the chart to a microSD/SD card using Garmin Express, then place that card in the chartplotter for use on the water.

Compatibility and fit

This chart requires a compatible Garmin marine chartplotter or sounder that supports BlueChart g3 Vision and reads mapping from a microSD or SD card slot. Not every Garmin unit supports Vision charts, and some Vision features can be limited by the model and its software.

If your display relies only on built-in mapping or does not accept a chart card, this chart will not load.

Installation and setup

For the SD card version, installation is as simple as inserting the card into the plotter. For the download version, you will load the chart onto a microSD/SD card with Garmin Express and then move that card to the boat.

Plan on dedicating a card to this region, since only one chart can be installed per microSD/SD card. Keep the chart card seated in the unit while navigating so the chart layers and data remain available.

On-board use notes

Auto Guidance is a planning tool, not an autopilot. Make sure your boat dimensions and safety margins are set correctly in the chartplotter, and always cross-check the suggested route against local conditions, notices, and what you can see outside the helm.

This coverage is a strong fit for coastal cruising, fishing runs, and transits along Newfoundland's west and south coasts, especially when you want extra context for unfamiliar harbors and tight approaches.
