Overview

The Garmin 010-02367-00 is a 12.1" touchscreen chartplotter (non-sonar) with a worldwide basemap and a 1280 x 800 WXGA display. It carries an IPX7 water rating and runs on 10 to 32 Vdc, so it fits common 12V and 24V boat systems.

At the helm, it connects to NMEA 2000 and NMEA 0183 for shared boat data, and it has two Garmin Marine Network ports for connected radar, chart sharing, cameras, and sonar black boxes. There is also composite video in (BNC) plus HDMI out for mirroring the screen to a compatible display.

This model does not have built-in sonar hardware, but it can display Traditional CHIRP, ClearVü, and SideVü when paired with a compatible external sonar black box and transducer. The internal 10 Hz GPS receiver can also use an external antenna over NMEA 2000 when your antenna needs to live somewhere other than the dash.

Installation and setup

You can install the GPSMAP 1223 on the included bail mount bracket or flush mount it in a dash. For flush mounting, use a surface with a vertical angle rather than a flat horizontal panel, and plan cable routing before you cut so the connectors are not forced into tight bends.

If you will not be able to reach the back of the unit after it is mounted, install any microSD chart cards before finalizing the install. Make HDMI connections in a dry area and protect all connectors from standing water and washdown spray.

Electrical and network integration

Power input is 10 to 32 Vdc. The included power cable uses an in-line 6 A fast-acting fuse, and the chartplotter should share a common power ground with connected NMEA 0183 devices.

For Garmin Marine Network connections, use Garmin Marine Network cables rather than standard Ethernet or PoE equipment. The unit also connects to a standard NMEA 2000 backbone; if you are tying into an existing network, confirm there is only one NMEA 2000 power feed and that it is switched so the network is not left powered when the boat is off.

Use on board

This display makes sense on a center console, sportfisher, pilothouse boat, or sailboat nav station where a 12" screen helps with chart detail and split views. It is a good match when you already run NMEA 2000 gear, AIS or VHF position reporting, or a Garmin Marine Network system and want one screen that can grow into radar, cameras, and sonar modules.

Maintenance and care

Rinse salt and grime off the screen and case with fresh water and wipe with a soft cloth. Keep the protective cover on when the boat is stored or trailered, and periodically check that cable glands and connector collars stay snug after heavy vibration or repeated washdowns.
