Compatibility and fit

This card is intended for use in compatible Garmin chartplotters. Confirm your unit accepts Garmin Navionics+ cartography and has a chart card slot (microSD or SD). The chart card itself does not tie into 12V or 24V directly, but your chartplotter must be properly powered and installed for the mapping and routing features to work as expected.

Installation and updates

Insert the card into the chartplotter’s chart slot and allow the unit to index the chart data. For reliable operation on a boat, make sure the card door is fully closed and the slot stays dry, especially in cockpits that see spray.

Daily updates are available while the included subscription is active. Updates and downloadable chart features are managed through the Garmin ecosystem (typically via the ActiveCaptain app, and for some workflows through a computer with chart installer software and a card reader). After the included term ends, ongoing update access requires a renewal subscription.

Use on board

On longer passages and coastal hops, the depth shading and shallow water shading are handy for quickly calling out the depths you care about when running channels, reef edges, and marina approaches. Auto Guidance+ can help with route planning between docks, but it should always be backed up by proper lookout, local knowledge, and real-time conditions.
