Overview

The Garmin 010-01741-00/LVS34 is a 12-inch chartplotter and live-sonar bundle that pairs a GPSMAP 1222 keyed display with a LiveScope Plus GLS 10 sonar module and an LVS34 transducer. The display is 12.1 in diagonal with WXGA 1280 x 800 resolution, and the chartplotter is rated IPX7 for incidental water exposure.

Power input is 10 to 32 V DC, so it fits both 12 V and 24 V systems. Navigation updates come from a 10 Hz GPS and GLONASS receiver, and the plotter accepts two SD cards (up to 32 GB each) for chart and data storage.

Installation and setup

The chartplotter can be bail-mounted or flush-mounted. Overall size is 14.1 x 8.9 x 2.7 in (35.8 x 22.6 x 6.9 cm), which is worth checking against helm clearance and cutout depth before you commit to a flush install. The power lead uses a 6 A, 125 V fast-acting fuse, and it helps to keep the wiring serviceable so the unit can be pulled without cutting ties or removing half a panel.

Mount the GLS 10 sonar module in a dry location with airflow where it will not be submerged. Keeping the indicators visible makes it easier to confirm power and connections during setup.

Networking and system integration

In this bundle, the LiveScope sonar picture is generated by the GLS 10 module and delivered to the chartplotter over the Garmin Marine Network. NMEA 2000 support makes it straightforward to bring in data from sensors and system gear, and NMEA 0183 support helps when you are tying into older electronics. The chartplotter provides one NMEA 0183 receive port and one transmit port, which is useful when you need both inbound and outbound data on a small legacy network.

Live sonar mounting and cable routing

The LVS34 transducer can be mounted on a trolling motor using the perspective mount, a barrel mount, or a direct shaft mount, and it can also be mounted on a pole. Perspective view requires the perspective mount bracket; barrel and direct shaft mounting support forward and downward views but not perspective.

On trolling motor installs, leave slack around the rotating joint so the cable is not pulled tight during steering. A service loop about 10 in (25 cm) long centered on the rotating joint helps prevent cable fatigue, and taping the cable in place avoids over-tightening that can damage the jacket over time.

Materials and water resistance

The chartplotter housing uses polycarbonate plastic with die-cast aluminum, and it is rated for -15 to 50 C (5 to 122 F). IPX7 covers incidental water exposure, but it is still smart practice to keep connectors protected and capped when they are not in use.

Use cases on board

This setup fits anglers who want live sonar at the bow with a trolling motor and still want a full-size plotter at the helm for running lines, navigating channels, and holding on structure. It also works well on boats where you plan to share data across displays and networked accessories, while keeping the sonar module close to the transducer run.
