Overview
The Raymarine D244 is a SeaTalk 3-way junction block for joining Raymarine SeaTalk devices through three SeaTalk sockets. It gives a cleaner connection point for a classic Raymarine SeaTalk bus, especially when several instruments, autopilot components, or compatible navigation displays need to share the same network run.
This junction box is a practical part for service work, refits, and legacy system expansion on boats that still use Raymarine SeaTalk equipment. It helps keep SeaTalk wiring organized behind the helm, at a nav station, or near an autopilot course computer, without turning the installation into a bundle of direct splices.
For boats that also have SeaTalkng or NMEA 2000 electronics, this block should be treated as a SeaTalk connection point. A proper Raymarine SeaTalk to SeaTalkng converter and the correct cables are still needed when bridging older SeaTalk devices into a newer network.
Key features
- Three SeaTalk sockets provide a central point for joining compatible Raymarine SeaTalk cables.
- Useful for classic SeaTalk 1 networks found on many Raymarine instrument and autopilot installations.
- Helps reduce loose wiring and service confusion behind the helm, nav station, or electronics panel.
- Suitable for refits where existing SeaTalk equipment needs to remain in use while the network layout is cleaned up.
- Can be used as part of a SeaTalk to SeaTalkng integration path when paired with the correct Raymarine converter and cables.
Compatibility and fit
This junction block is for Raymarine SeaTalk connections, not for direct NMEA 2000 or SeaTalkng backbone connections. It is commonly used with Raymarine legacy instruments and autopilot systems that communicate over SeaTalk, including many ST-series installations.
Before installation, confirm that the existing cables and devices use SeaTalk connectors and that the network is powered and fused according to the requirements of the full system. On mixed-generation installations, the junction block handles the SeaTalk side only.
Installation and setup
Mount the junction block in a dry, accessible area where SeaTalk cables can be routed without sharp bends or strain on the connectors. Behind the instrument panel, near an autopilot control area, or inside a protected electronics compartment are common locations.
After connecting the SeaTalk cables, secure the cable runs so vibration and helm movement do not pull on the sockets. For troubleshooting later, it is worth keeping the block reachable rather than burying it behind permanent panels.
Use cases on board
This part is a good match for owners maintaining Raymarine legacy electronics on cruising boats, sailboats, and fishing boats where existing instruments or autopilot equipment still work well. It is especially helpful during upgrades where the older SeaTalk bus needs a neater connection point before it is linked into newer onboard electronics.
