Overview
The Garmin 010-01753-00 is a Panoptix PS51-TH thru-hull transducer that gives you FrontVü forward-looking sonar, showing the bottom up to 300 ft ahead (typically 8 to 10 times your current depth) and LiveVü Forward for real-time views out to about 100 ft.
It runs on 10 to 35 V DC systems, uses a 417 kHz multi-beam phased array, and draws under 1.2 A at 12 V. A built-in AHRS sensor stabilizes the sonar image when the boat is pitching and rolling, which helps when you are creeping through shallow water in chop.
The 50.88 mm (2 in) stainless steel thru-hull stem fits a traditional through-hull installation and connects to a Panoptix-capable Garmin chartplotter over the Garmin Marine Network (RJ-45), so the sonar view can be shared to other networked displays.

Compatibility and fit
This is a thru-hull install, so you will want clear access inside the bilge for the housing and nut cap, plus a clean cable route to the helm. The body size (about 40 x 192.5 mm) helps when you are checking clearance around stringers, tanks, and pumps.
Deadrise at the mounting spot matters. Once the local deadrise is over 5 degrees, a fairing block is used so the transducer sits parallel to the waterline, and the fairing block is cut to match your hull angle (up to a 20 degree cut).
With a fairing block, the mounting hardware supports hull thickness up to 29 mm (1.15 in) at a 12 degree deadrise, or up to 19 mm (0.75 in) at a 20 degree deadrise. Keep it in clean water flow, away from aeration behind strakes, intakes, or steps, and more than 600 mm (24 in) from other transducers.
Installation and setup
Plan on access from both sides of the hull. Hole sizing depends on hull construction: 51 mm (2 in) on fiberglass, 60 mm (2 3/8 in) on cored fiberglass, and 57 mm (2 1/4 in) on metal hulls. On cored fiberglass, the core should be sealed before bedding the fitting.
During final assembly, align the arrow on the transducer toward the bow, install at least one anti-rotation bolt, and secure the safety wire. After launch, check for leaks around the thru-hull before leaving the boat in the water for an extended period.
Electrical and network integration
Power is 10 to 35 V DC with a 4 A fuse, which fits both 12 V and 24 V boats when the wiring is sized correctly. The sonar connection is through a Garmin Marine Network RJ-45 port to a Panoptix-capable Garmin chartplotter, and the sonar view can be shared across the network when multiple displays are onboard.
Use on board
FrontVü is the view you use while easing into a shallow anchorage, approaching an unfamiliar dock, or feeling your way through tight water where you want bottom detail ahead of the bow. LiveVü Forward is useful when you are fishing and want to watch what is happening in front of the boat without having to circle back over the area.
This setup tends to suit cruisers who do a lot of slow-speed navigation in skinny water and anglers who want a forward-looking picture while holding position.
Maintenance and care
Aquatic growth can build up quickly and reduce sonar performance. Clean the transducer face with a soft cloth and mild detergent, and remove heavier growth with a scouring pad or putty knife. On metal hulls, use a water-based anti-fouling paint on the hull every six months and avoid ketone-based anti-fouling paint near the transducer.
