Overview
The Simrad 000-12358-001 is a WR10 wireless autopilot remote that gives you autopilot control from anywhere on board using Bluetooth to a BT1 base station (sold separately), with a working range of up to 30 metres. It runs on two AAA batteries, is rated IPX6 and IPX7 for on-deck exposure, and measures 72.64 mm high by 41.58 mm wide by 22 mm deep.
Five buttons cover the day-to-day actions: AUTO to engage, STBY for standby, and left or right keys to change heading in 1° steps or 10° steps with a press-and-hold. A multicolour LED confirms when commands are acknowledged and also gives a low-battery warning, which is handy when you are moving between the helm, cockpit, bow, or cockpit coaming.
Key features
- Bluetooth remote control through a BT1 base station (required, sold separately) with up to 30 m range
- One BT1 base station can be paired with up to four WR10 remotes
- Heading adjustments in 1° steps, or 10° steps with a long press
- Dedicated AUTO and STBY buttons for quick engage and standby changes
- MODE key supports switching between autopilot modes, including Auto and NoDrift (and Wind mode where enabled on sail setups)
- IPX6 and IPX7 environmental rating for wet decks and washdowns
- Powered by two AAA batteries with LED status and low-battery indication
- Compact size (72.64 x 41.58 x 22 mm) with lanyard attachment and wrist-mount option
Compatibility and fit
This remote is meant for compatible Simrad autopilot systems when used with the BT1 base station. Supported systems include Simrad NAC-1, AC12, AC42, SG05, and Simrad Pro AC70.
If you are adding this as a second handheld or a replacement, confirm you already have a BT1 base station on the boat, or plan to install one, since the WR10 talks to the autopilot through that base station rather than wiring directly into the pilot computer.
Installation and setup
The BT1 base station connects to the boat’s NMEA 2000 backbone using a Micro-C connection and takes its power from the network (9 to 16 V DC). For consistent wireless performance, mount the base station where it is not blocked by other electrical or electronic equipment, and check the connection throughout the boat before you commit to the final mounting location.
Keeping the base station at least 2 metres away from other Bluetooth or WiFi transmitters helps avoid interference. Once paired, the remote gives you practical control for docking, fishing, or singlehanding when you want to manage steering mode and small course changes without staying at the helm.
