Overview
The Raymarine A66089 is an M260 in-hull transducer with housing for depth sounding on solid fiberglass hulls. It operates at 1 kW with dual 50/200 kHz frequencies, giving offshore anglers and cruising boats a strong depth signal without cutting a transducer hole through the bottom of the boat.
The in-hull mounting tank is bonded inside the hull, so the transducer can transmit and receive through fiberglass while the outside hull surface stays clean. This helps avoid external turbulence and removes the maintenance concerns that come with an exposed thru-hull or transom-mounted transducer.
This model uses a 200 kHz element for tighter target detail and a seven-element 50 kHz array for deeper water work. It supports depth readings only, with a 30 ft cable, 19 degree and 6 degree beam widths, and stated depth capability of 2,500 ft at low frequency and 1,000 ft at high frequency.
Key features
- 1 kW in-hull depth transducer for boats with solid fiberglass hull construction.
- Dual-frequency 50/200 kHz operation supports deep-water detection and more detailed target separation.
- 19 degree low-frequency beam and 6 degree high-frequency beam help balance bottom coverage with target definition.
- In-hull installation keeps the transducer protected inside the boat and avoids drilling a hole below the waterline.
- Urethane transducer construction with an in-hull mounting tank for a clean internal installation.
- 30 ft cable gives installers room to route from the bilge or hull mounting area to the sonar module location.
- Raymarine DSM-style connector supports CP370 sonar modules and legacy CP300, DSM300, DSM30, and DSM250 modules.
- Rated for deadrise angles from 0 to 30 degrees when the tank is cut and installed to suit the hull.
Installation and setup
The M260 is made for an internal hull installation, not for aluminum, cored, wooden, or stepped hull sections where the sonar signal cannot pass cleanly through solid fiberglass. The mounting area should be tested and selected carefully before bonding the tank, with attention to clean water flow, hull thickness, bilge access, and cable routing.
For best results, the tank is cut to match the boat’s deadrise angle and fixed inside the hull so the transducer sits correctly in the tank. This type of installation is often a good fit for sportfishing boats, express cruisers, and offshore-capable fiberglass vessels where a protected transducer location is preferred.
Compatibility and fit
This transducer is for Raymarine depth sonar systems that accept the M260 DSM-style connection, including CP370 and several legacy DSM modules. It is not a speed or temperature sensor, so those functions require separate sensors if they are needed on the display.
The 1 kW power rating makes the A66089 better suited to serious fishfinding and deeper-water use than basic low-power depth transducers. Buyers should confirm the sonar module, connector type, hull material, and available inside-hull mounting space before installation.
Use on board
On a fiberglass fishing boat, this transducer suits owners who want strong conventional sonar performance without hardware exposed outside the hull. It is especially useful around offshore ledges, wrecks, reefs, and deeper bottom structure where depth tracking and target separation matter.
Because the transducer sits inside the hull, it is also practical for trailered boats and multi-hull layouts where an external transducer may be more exposed to loading damage, spray, or turbulent water.
