Overview
The Lumitec 101742 is a compact LED flood and spreader light with a white housing, IP67 sealing, and a wide 10-30VDC input for 12V and 24V systems. It delivers 1,200+ lumens of white light while drawing 12W, with current draw up to 1.0A at 12V (0.5A at 24V).
This Caprera3-size fixture is commonly mounted on a hardtop, radar arch, tower, or spreader base when you want a broad wash of light over the cockpit, foredeck, or working area. The Spectrum Halo version adds color-capable lighting effects for when you want something other than straight white.
Key features
- 10-30VDC input for typical 12V and 24V DC systems
- 1,200+ lumens of white output, 12W draw, up to 1.0A at 12V (0.5A at 24V)
- IP67 rated sealing for exposed mounting locations and washdowns
- Powder-coated die-cast aluminum housing with a heat tempered glass lens
- Compact footprint: 3.79in wide, 1.10in tall, 2.49in deep
- Timed Toggle Protocol control so dimming and color functions can be accessed from a standard on and off switch
- Compatible with the Lumitec POCO system for digital lighting control
- Over 2,000+ hours of ASTM B-117 salt spray chamber testing
Installation and setup
Mount it where the beam can clear rails and rigging and spread across the cockpit or deck without shining directly into the helm. Plan your wire exit and sealing before drilling, and bed any fasteners and the wire pass-through with marine sealant to keep water out of the core or tubing.
Allow a little room around the light body for aiming and service. If you are replacing an older spreader or flood, compare the available mounting space to the 3.79in by 1.10in by 2.49in housing size so the new light does not interfere with antennas, grab rails, or canvas.
Electrical and control
Connect black to negative (ground) and red to +12VDC or +24VDC on a protected circuit with an appropriately sized fuse or breaker. Maximum draw is up to 1.00A at 12VDC and 0.50A at 24VDC, which helps when you are sizing wire runs on a hardtop or mast.
Timed Toggle Protocol makes control straightforward on boats that do not want extra controllers at the switch panel. The light ramps on at startup, and quick off and on toggles are used for dimming and for accessing the Spectrum color functions, with an option to lock a chosen color during the cycle.
Use cases on board
This light fits boats that need a spread of usable light for rigging, docking prep, night fishing, or loading gear, and that also want color-capable lighting for evenings at anchor without running special control wiring. It works equally well on center consoles, pilothouse boats, and sailboats where a compact spreader style fixture is easier to place on an arch or mast.
Maintenance and care
Rinse salt buildup from the housing and lens during routine washdowns, especially after offshore runs. Avoid abrasive pads on the lens, and periodically check that mounting hardware and the cable entry seal remain tight after a season of vibration and thermal cycling.
